I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions...Over the past year my sex drive has gone to practically nothing...I had a miscarriage in October of 2002, almost a year and a half...could this still be lingering from that? Do PCOSers usually have low libido? I have not had this prob before...I have in the past really enjoyed sex, but can not seem to get "into" it these days...DH and I have had some stress between us, so I thought maybe it was that...maybe a psychological root, but I used to almost need sex even if it was myself who did the pleasing...not anymore, I don't have any desire...any thoughts or suggestions??? Sorry, this is more info than I ever thought I would give to anyone, but I need some answers...???
I am sorry Angela. This is a hard subject for a lot of us. Recently I watched a show, one of those news ones on the networks, about women with no sex drive. It is more common than I ever thought it to be. I have no sex drive right now. I thought it was because of depression, which it could be, but am finding out that my health has a lot to do with it. I am not happy with my body, plus not feeling well either. It could be alot of things combined. Mostly it is because of the hormone levels. Have you had them checked? Not all women with pcos have low sex drive, in fact some have a very high one. It just depends on how you feel and your hormones. Like I said, it is more common that anyone thought. I don't remember the % but it was pretty high. Talk to your doctor about it, he/she might have some suggestions for you. I wish I could help more. Good Luck.

If loss of sex drive is a problem, you DEFINITELY need to go in for a hormone check. It may be that you lost either estrogen or testosterone; both are required to have a healthy sex drive. In my case, I started a new medication that made it more difficult for my estrogen supplements to work. As a result, I starting having symptoms of loss of sex drive and loss of moisture. We increased my estrogen, and within HOURS I was back to my old self. Get your hormones tested, and see what's going on. With PCOSers, are hormones are constantly in flux, so it is important to see the doctor whenever a new set of emotions/symptoms arises.
The complementary medicine book we use recommends a mega-folic acid regimen to treat women's hormonal problems -- includling irregular or no periods, menopausal symptoms and/or postpone menopause, low libido -- plus depression, and IBS.
I tried what he suggested, hoping to postpone menopause and lengthen my fertility quest, and unexpectedly got an extreme improvement in hirsutism symptoms, which leads me to believe this has helped regulate my hormones in some way.
I didn't have the other problems, so can't say for sure if this therapy would help those, but since it helped me, thought I'd pass it along.
My vitamin regimen is in my sig line.
