Default Little or no symptoms = m/c?

Hi ladies -

I've been thinking about something... just due to my reading and talking with others around these boards. If you had an early m/c 12 weeks or under did you have strong symptoms or little or no real pregnancy symptoms before your m/c?

When I got pg my symptoms where extreme tiredness and extremely hot all the time (that was weird for me as I'm always cold). I never realized it (at the time) but about 4 days before we find out our baby was gone I felt cold for the 1st time since the 2WW. I'm just wondering if there is any coltion between little or no symptoms and having a m/c?

TIA!

I think there is enormous variation between cases on this. Sometimes the body holds on to the pregnancy for a long time, continuing to crank out the hormones.

With my early loss at five weeks, I felt just as wonky and out of sorts as I had with my first pregnancy and again with Duncan. I had a hormone crash of some sort where I was easily reduced to tears on the day I started spotting, but it could just as readily be caused by "good" pg hormones for most of us. But that was the end. So even though that pregnancy never took hold and stuck, I was really feeling pregnant until after the elimination started.

Interesting question for sure.

I had extremely sore boobs, nausea, extreme exhaustion and cramping while I was pregnant. My nausea started out mainly as food adversions but around 8 weeks my nausea started getting worse. I finally went to the doctor about it and around 10 weeks he put me on a different prenatal to help the nausea. Within about a week my nausea was better and my boobs weren't as sore. I thought that it was a combination of nearing the 2nd trimester and the medicine. Little did I know that my baby had died. I had no symptoms of a m/c. Well I guess in hindsight my symptoms of pregnancy going away should have alerted me but like I said I thought the medicine was helping. But to answer you question I've heard of many women not having any symptoms at all during their pregnancy and having healthy babies. But I do wonder if you have strong symptoms and then they go away all of a sudden if it means a m/c is inevitable.

I almost fainted at a Christmas party for my sister's job before I knew I was pregnant. I thought I had just gotten too hot. My boobs were really sore and I was extremely tired. I had a strong craving for cottage cheese and once even bought a box of plastic spoons so I could eat some in my car at the grocery store (before I knew I was pg). I got some morning sickness at 6 weeks. I had the sore boobs, fatigue, and nausea up until the m/c.

I had pretty strong symptoms at first - Really sore boobs and they were really full (I was quite surprised how much bigger they had gotten in such a short period of time), peeing a lot, hot, feeling really sick and being tired.

All of a sudden my boobs didn't hurt, but they were still big...Then they would hurt again, but just off and on. Then I wasn't sick or tired at all anymore. In another 2 weeks I had an ultrasound that showed a gest. sac that wasn't developed past 6 weeks. Oh yeah - and during that time, just like you said, I was cold again.

During my freak out time, I asked a zillion times about disappearing symptoms and lots of mom's said it was normal and it happened to them and they had healthy babies. It's so hard to say, I was a nut - I took my temperature every morning until I found out I was going to miscarry. I thought if it stays up I'm good...right?! Uhh no. My body was still pumping out the hcg.

I've never had strong symptoms with any of my pregnancies, but in 2 of the ones that ended in m/c (all were before 8 weeks) the few symptoms I had ended very early and very abruptly, a few days before the m/c. In the healthy pregnancies, they weren't any stronger than the ones that ended in m/c, but the symptoms went on a little longer, until 9 or 10 weeks.

I think every pregnancy is different, whether it goes to term or not, and every woman's body responds differently to the hormones.

I'm sorry about your loss.

Ladies -

thank you so much for your replies! It is always interesting to hear others responses to inquiries that we make. Of course it is not sciencific but I think a lot of you were like me in knowing that it was going to happen. Our bodies are an amazing thing and when TTC like most of us we really learn to listen.

With me the only symptoms really were lots of cm, other than that didnt find out until i was 6 wks pregnant. I then begin to wake up hungry and had spasms in my breast, the only spurt of morning sickness was the morning of my mc i had dry heaves in the shower. Althought i remember telling DH that i dont feel "pregnant" anymore cause all my symptoms subsided. I never got that motherly instinct either.

Unhappy

I wonder the same thing. I had severe cramping, really painful boobs, frequent peeing, mild naseau, fatigue, etc.... Of course, I also had a UTI and I was beginning antibiotics for it when I found out I was pg. Now, my boobs still hurt, I pee alot, and I get heartburn sometimes. But everything else has stopped. No cramping, no naseau, not really any fatigue (I actually feel like I have more energy then I did before I got pg) and this all worries me. I don't really "feel" pg. My first pg, I was sooooooooo sick ALL the time. And I was exhausted. This time it's so different. There's been no bleeding, but that hasn't really eased my fears. Can my change/disappearance in symptoms be normal? Or is it a sign that something bad is coming?

I have read several places that "loss of pregnancy symptoms" is one of the signs of miscarriage. I don't think that losing pregnancy symptoms would definitely mean a m/c though, because I know some women don't have any symptoms.

As for me, I didn't think I really had pregnancy symptoms, but I realized after I found out the baby's heart stopped that I did. I noticed that my breasts weren't as heavy or sore, and I had more energy and less cravings. I hadn't even realized those symptoms before.

HTH!!!
