I just uped my Metformin to 2,000mg slowly from 1,000. Today when I had a bowel movement it was coated in blood and when I wiped there was blood also. I have not seen it since. Does anynoe know if Metformin causes this? Sorry for TMI but needed to ask,I am a little freaked out by this!!

Met shouldn't cause blood. I Hate to ask it, but was the blood red or brownish? If its red, then it could be a hemoriod or a cut, if its brown, then its something to definitly ask your Dr. about. I would ask either way really. Good luck!

It is normal, the first time it happened to me I was like WTF?? But I posted on here and if you do a search of the boards you will see it is common thing to happen at first. It shouldn't last any more than once or twice though.
