Default Little update and Metfomin question

Okay I had yet another ultrasound, I have good news this time!!!

My cyst has shrunk to 1 inch by 1/2 inch!! I am happy about that. My right ovary is still about double the size it should be. He said I was in so much pain because I am ovulating TODAY... Maybe we will catch it!!! I sure hope so!

Second question, he upped my dose of Metformin to 850x2 from 500x2 what differant side effects should I encounter from the increase?

TIA
Cristi

Congratulations on how well met is working for you
I don't think that you should encounter any side effects that were different from the ones you experienced when you first started taking met. But, I am no expert. I started out on 1000mgs of met. I had horrible diarreah and nausea for about 3 weeks. After those symptoms went away, I was then put on 1500 mgs. Same symptoms, but this time they only lasted for about 2 weeks and a lack of appetite. I had to force myself to eat at times and then I could only eat a few bites. I was low carbing at the time too, (im not now, but I plan on restarting soon) so that might have been what caused the lack of appetite. About 3 weeks ago, I upped my dosage to 2000mgs a day. I did have the diarreah after the increase, but i'm happy to report that it only lasted 3 days. I am planning to up it one last time to 2500mgs in about a week. Anyway, I do understand that every one reacts to this drug differently. So, my experience with it may not be like yours. But, hope this helps anyway.

Default So far so good...

Hi there, thanks for replying to me. (same person differen SN name cause I am on a differant computer)

I just want to say for right now things are good, I do have diahreea pretty good and I am low carbing but its all good. As long as I drink my water and keep clean I can put up with it.

I did see on your signature that your doctor refused to help you get pg until you got to a normal weight. That is a load of crap! I am 329.5 (YEAH LOST 11.5 LBS!) and my OBGYN wants to start me on CLOMID as well as Metfomin to help me get PG. The fertility drugs where HIS idea. He told me that when I am ready to start on Clomid let HIM know. I told him I want to get to about 250 first BUT just because you are big (i dont know what you weigh) does NOT mean you can not have a perfectly healty baby! I have an 18 month old now! I was 385 when I gave birth to her! 6 lb 13 oz PERFECT health for BOTH us...

JMO I just want to let you know that I think if you are really TTC hard you need to look for another opinion... IMO!

Hi Cristi,
Thanks for replying to me. Unfortunately, because I live in Finland(i'm originally from missouri) (they have socialized medicine as in most of europe), I cannot change doctors. PCOS is not as prevelant in Europe as it is in the US. So, my doctor, who knows next to nothing about PCOS, says that it is all because of my weight. She has diagnosed me with a metabolic disorder, and all of my bloodwork shows classic pcos symptoms. She says that I should join weight watchers. I think I cried for 2 days because of that. I just knew that I was never going to have a child. I'm back in the US now trying to find help. But, because of the cost, it doesn't seem very likely that I will find anything. I dont have insurance here so I can't afford much. It's an impossible situation. I'm considering moving back to the US permanently and just trying to get insurance here some how.

Wow, that is amazing. I am assuming that you are on the east coast. If you are out of a job here on the west coast you can qualify for all sorts of medicaid type services.

Best wishes to you hun!

Good luck, you will some day have a child. If not your own you will have the opprotunity to give a child a warm and loving environment to call their own who would not have had it otherwise.

Keep faith... Sorry to have been so nosey... I am kinda an activist for overweight rights like that...
