Default Liver ultrasound for my anniversary! (rant as well)

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary, and I got to celebrate by having a liver ultrasound! I went into my doctor for my 3-month Zoloft appointment check last week and was talking to him about my 2 new symptoms -- excessive sweating and a rash on my face. He referred me to the dermatologist for my rash, but the sweating was getting really bad. I would teach 1 class period in 50 degree weather with the windows open and was sweating through my clothes. He prescribed an antiperspirant for me but also sent me in for a blood test. Apparantly my liver enzymes came back high, so I went in for more bloodwork and the ultrasound. I never thought ultrasounds were painful, but this woman was trying to push into my insides with her wand. I am worried that they will have to take me off of Metformin, which has helped me to lose 18 pounds since everything started. I don't drink. In fact, my last drink was at my wedding. Has anyone else had a liver ultrasound? What was the diagnosis?

Sorry for ranting,
Melissa
(who won't even be able to celebrate her anniversary because she has to play for a church rehearsal and DH will probably be out by the time I get home)

i'm sorry you're having a bad day! i didn't realize excessive sweating could be because of liver enzymes. i haven't had a liver ultrasound, so i can't help you there. my mom had a liver test once because of something related to her diabetes. but i don't know much about that. i just wanted to say that i hope you find some time to celebrate, even if it's not today. and ranting is ok. we all have days like that. :\

I had one done and it came back as I had a mild fatty liver b/c of type II diabetes. (which I don't have). It scared me to death though, I didn't want to be taken off metformin either. They didn't take me off and I have my enzymes checked about once a year or so.

(((hugs))) I am so sorry you have to take the test on your Anniversary. I had a liver Ultrasound done a couple of years back to check to see if I had a fatty liver and I indeed did. I took lipitor for high choresterol and when they did blood tests to check for my choresterol my numbers went down and my fatty liver was now gone. I hope your results will come back good. Happy Anniversary.

Thanks! From my research, I think it's probably fatty liver too. I'm not on cholesterol medicine because we're TTC. I guess I will have to wait until the results come in. DH and I decided to postpone anniversary celebrating. We took one of our dogs in to get spayed. We knew that she wasn't one who liked to leave the house, but she flattened herself like a pancake and would not budge. DH had to carry all 84 Golden retriever pounds of her into the vet.
