Default Long distance move

Okay I am going to be moving about 600 miles south and I have a lot of stuff and no truck and no clue.
How do I go about a long distance move?
This will be taking place in late May

Very long story.... short version: I am tired of this state and the snow and the taxes and etc. And I have an (hopefully wonderful) opportunity ahead of me that I do not want to pass up!

Honestly, it depends on how much cash you want to spend.

(I'm a pro at moving having moved long distance (at least 500 miles) 10 times in four years.)

You can check out renting a UHAUL truck at www.UHAUL.com . You put in where you are now, what you want/need to rent, where you a moving too and it will give you a price. Just a note, the closer you get to the date of needing the truck the more it seems to cost, and the more likely you are to not get the size you want, or have to drive for it.

You can also look up "moving" companies online. MAKE SURE to check ALL of them with the better buisness burea (can't spell) before you use them. ALSO you want a company that will give you a price quote based on what they are moving and they promise that it wont cost you MORE than that quote. I highly recommend looking into any company you use to move your furniture. Hubby and made the mistake of not doing so once and my brand new 2K bedroom set ended up with TONS of scratches, cracked all sorts of stuff. It was bad.

There are also companies where they bring the truck to your place, you pack the truck, and they will drive it for you.

If you end up packing your own stuff I strongly recommend shopping around for boxes, we got a great deal on them through UHAUL buy buying the boxes in bulk. Just and FYI I have a bad back and hubby wasn't getting home from Iraq till 5 days before the movers were coming so I gota TON of the medium boxes and the small, and didn't use barely any of the jumbo. Look at your stuf, if you have big bulky items that dont weigh much plan on putting those in a jumbo, if you have alot of dense/heavy stuff, you want those in small's or mediums.

Hope some of this is helpful!
Tammy
