I've been depressed about our foster care adoption being at a dead stand still. It took four and a half months for the fingerprints to come back and so instead of being done with our home study we still have 3-4 more weeks to go. The prints came back yesterday but our casewroker still has to write it up, but first she has a two week vacation. We did get to look through the books with all the children's pictures and info but they can't hear about us until the home study is written. So it will be 3-4 months at least until we are through the process and children are placed. 9-12 months is more likely though and it could be even longer.
I'm sorry Anang......the process is frustrating sometimes! Our started out fast and we have our study in with two different children, but haven't heard a thing yet. It's all hurry up and wait!
You're very patient!

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out

Anang sorry you are feeling frustrated...the world of adoption/fostering is always a "hurry up and wait" kinda business...its hard but oh so worth it in the end !

Stinks that you are waiting all this time. I really understand how you are feeling (though I went through a different process). The good side of it is that thankfully all this agony will fade once a beautiful child is in your arms.

Someone asked me the other day about how things were going and then said "I guess it is like being pregnant and waiting for the baby to be born."
I don't think this is it, but as I have not been there I'm not sure BUT....... To me it feels like ttc and lots of BFNs.......I think the first call from an interested case worker will be my BFP........
anang ~
Sorry its going so slow What state are you in? its funny, our caseworker just went on a 2 week vacation too. when she gets back we will be going to commitee for the first time. we have been using this time to spend some great time together, read parenting books, buying stuff for their bedroom, etc. but i know how you feel too we really want our kids home with us and to finally be a family!
Are you new to the state your in? is that why your fingerprints took so long? you might want to check out a small website with some great people who are in the process of or have done state adoptions its called www.happymomanna.com the women on there are very supportive and can answer so many questions you have about foster care adoptions. i have heard that once you are licensed for foster care that you will have more than you can handle. take this time to really savor your freedom and your private time with friends and significant others, read some books and have a great summer! hope to see you at happymomanna.com

mindi- Thanks for replying isn't the wait a challenge? How does the process work in MN? do the case workers choose?
Are you still fostering? I hope all else is well with you
anang
Our longest waits were with our background checks for fostering (because we'd both lived in too many places) and with our psych eval results, which took a little over a month.
In our county, there is ONE adoption social worker, so we're at her mercy. When I see a child/children available online, I email her and she sends out our study. It's been sent out three times in the past three weeks. Now we're just waiting to hear back from the receiving worker and/or the birth parents in some cases. It's a LOT of sit and wait!!!!
We're still fostering as well. We have an empty (and way too quiet) house at the moment, so we're just waiting on the calls!
Good luck w/ your search Anang....I hope it speeds up soon!
