Default Long periods, Weight gain..

Well, I think as of today my 4 1/2 week long period finally stopped ! However, I am still in pain-- my pelvic area is really sore. 2 weeks into my period, it got really heavy-- I was bleeding like an overnight pad an hour.. fully soaking it.. and that lasted 1 week-- and then it has been medium heavy until it stopped. I am hoping it doesn't come back.

Anyway, I haven't offically been diagnosed with PCOS-- however, when I was 16 (Iam now 20).. I lived in England and there the doctor had me do an ultra sound, she was looking for cysts.. and there was no cysts.. but she said that I didn;t need to have cysts to have the symptoms I was having. She also said it would probably be very hard for me to have kids when the "time came".. and that I should try for a year, and then go see a doctor.
She put me on birth control to get my periods under control.
(Iam wondering if she was kind of diagnosing me as having pcos.. ?)

Anyway.. well, for some reason, I went off birth control awhile back.. I thought it might have been making me gain weight. Over 7 months I gained over 50lbs for what seemed like no reason. My diet or excise hadn't changed. I have always been active, with a healthy diet.
I then started looking online and discovered PCOS.. I identify with almost everyone I meet that has it.
I put myself on the south beach diet, and I lost 25lbs after 2 months on it. However.. during my 4 week period, I gained 7lbs-- and I was dieting !

I am very frusterated at this point. It seems like my weight gain and periods are very well linked. I avoid "bad" carbs like the plague. I can't even remember the last time I had a potatoe or pasta.. !! It's completely unfair I've put weight back on.

Anyway, I don't have health insurance right now. My pelvic pain hurts, the weight gain won't stop.. and I feel like I am becoming anemic again from bleeding too much.
Back In march my period lasted 2 months... went away for 3 months, went back on..
My period lasts a long time, then I don't get it for a few months -- that's how the cycle has been lately, and that's the way it's been since I was 11 years old. Sometimes I won't get it for 9 months. Sometimes I'll get it for 9 months straight.

Sorry for such a long post. I asked a doctor about maybe me having insulin resistance, and he said that a blood sugar test would determine that. My blood sugar came back fine......
However, it HAS to be insulin resistance, it just has to be.. diabetes 2 runs in my family, I am probably at the begining stages. I think he was just really ignorant.

Anyway, I know I need to treat my periods, and my weight -- What is the recomended course of action ?
I'll do anything to feel normal again. I also think I am getting increased hairs.. I notice hairs on my lower tummy that never use to be there.
I also have skin tags near my armpits !

I will ask my parents to help me out with a doctor, but It'll be a waste if they tell me just to diet to lose weight, and put me on birth control to fix my periods. I am afraid I have some tumor down there. Why is my pelvic area hurting so bad ?

Sorry for the novel.. ANY advice ?

If you want to try over the counter stuff until you can get in...

Calcium 500mg AM, 500mg PM
Magnisium
Folic
B6
B12

If you continue to bleed like you do, you may have a fibroid.
I have a few links in my siggy you can check out.

You must get the vitamins back in your system.
Severe untreated animia can lead to lukemia cancer.

At least start with a good One a day vitamin.

Take care,
Patty
