Default Long road trip in early pregnancy?

DH and I will be traveling 8.5 hours to see his grandmother in South Carolina this weekend and I'm curious to see if there is anything in particular I need to do (or not do) compared to our previous trips. I've had a couple people tell me that we'll need to stop every hour or so to stretch my legs and walk around and that I'll need to drink even more water to keep from getting dehydrated.

Any tips and suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated!

Congratulations! At this point you're fine, but be prepared to have exhaustion set in at some point. I went to South Africa from the US at around your stage -- the morning sickness and the exhaustion kicked in on the way home. 18 hours in economy feeling sick like a dog. I also got the usual travelers cold while I was there, too. Everything turned out fine. Good luck.

We drove to Florida from Colorado and back when I was around 13 weeks with no problems. It was like 30 hours in the car. I would think that you will be fine. Just make sure you listen to your body, you'll know if you need to take a break.

Same 9 hours to Montreal...just get out and walk when you stop for bathrooms or gas..

No big issues

You will probably need lots of bathroom stops i did , and snacks and drinks. I would also suggest a good pillow for behind your back - i got really uncomfortable in the car.

We drove 8 hrs to Buffalo when i was about 13 weeks pregnant with triplets.

Good Luck on your trip

We're getting ready to head from TN to MN which is about a 22 hour trip. We're stopping half way to spend the night, because I just can't ride for 22 hours anymore (especially now that I'm pregnant). My doctor approved the trip, although I have to admit, I'm kinda nervous about the whole situation.

I was due around the same time as you are (but last year). Drs didn't give me any restrictions on travel until about September when I traveled about 8 hours in a car and they said to stop every other hour, then in October I went on a 5 hour car trip and they said to stop every hour to walk. But one dr said your body is kinda good at regulating when you need to walk because it tends to be when you need to pee. So whenever I had to stop to pee, that's when I walked. Stay hydrated and use the AC!

Don't snack on salty foods... your feet may swell... and rotate your ankles from time to time while you're riding...make yourself comfy and enjoy your trip.

Walk a lot! Everytime you have to do a bathroom break, take a quick stroll. It will help.
