My Mood: Points: 23,659.76 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 23,659.76 | Long Term Clomid? Hey there ladies. Quick Clomid question. I know you are only supposed to take it for 6 months, but I'm wondering if I can then take it again if I want to ttc for a second child. Is it just 6 months in a row? I am so nervous that I won't be able to conceive in these 6 months! The pressure is on!

I have been on clomid many times over the course of over 10 years, way more than 6 times. My Dr always says to me that after my 6th cycle , I would need to go to a specialist but I always get pg before then (all but 1 time).

If anyone knows- is this because if clomid doesn't work in the 6 months then they don't think it will work at all, or is it because it is unhealthy to do it for longer? I have wondered.

Both: Statistics show that if you haven't conceived by the 6th month of Clomid, then your chances will not be improved by any additional rounds. Also, the more you take Clomid, the more it thins your uterine lining. HTH.

My Mood: Points: 42,646.63 Bank: 311,156,360.02 Total Points: 311,199,006.66 | I also think it is both but like in my case for instance, I have taken clomid at different times, most of the time concieving within the first 3 months, 1 time not concieving at all. I have also concieved at different dosages, 100mg (1st pg) 150mg (2nd, 3rd, & 4th) and just 50 mg for my 6th pg. I really thing that sometimes you just need a clomid break.
The last time I use clomid, 50mg, was in October and I did get pg but lost it in January. I will be starting again soon but am worried that now 50mg will not work this time. I think our bodies go through changes constantly at we need different dosages at different times, like in my case.
For what it's worth, the one time I didn't concieve with clomid after being on it for 6 months, I was found to have diabetes and went on a break to get healthy and control my diabetes, I ended up pregnant on my own (no clomid) with twins. That is the pregnancy that gave me my twins. I often wonder if the clomid concieved pg's are at a higher risk for mc?
