Hi all,
As you can tell by my sig and picture, I have a son (Zach) who is 20 months old. My husband and I are thinking about adopting again in the near future, but we don't know if we want to do international again. We know that we want to adopt a Hispanic child. Does anyone know of any good agencies that place mostly Hispanic children? If you do, you can email me at zachs_mom0702@yahoo.com
Thanks for any help you can give.

This agency is wonderful! They place babies of all races but specialize in babies of color (hispanic and african american). I hope this website will answer some of your questions. We were going to use them, they were wonderful to work with.
They have a listing of birthmothers (usually pregnant, a few with children already born) looking for adoptive parents. I have seen quite a few Hispanic or Hispanic/Other children listed. I believe the agency fees are right about $8,000.00 but don't quote me.
Good luck!

I'm new to the whole adoption thing but I have had friends adopt children of color (infants) from the city.
Our friends in DC adopted an adorable girl of Hispanic parents when she was three days old.
Unfortunately, becuase of racism and poverty and a whole bunch of factors, children of color largely make up the foster/city system in most medium-size and big-size cities so it seems that it could happen there.
Best of luck.
Your little boy is absolutely adorable.

Yes, they adopted through "the system". We are looking into adopting from the city (yes, I know, I'm pregnant but adoption has always been part of our plan) and I think people in neighboring states can adopt in NY.
So, I don't know where you live in Arkansas, but maybe you could adopt from Texas? Or Louisiana? Or another state that may have more hispanic children in their "system" (such an awful word/image).
Good luck.

2. Do you want to adopt an hispanic child so he/she looks like Zach? My understanding is that the children from Guatemala are considered Native Americans (formerly referred to as Indians) and are not really hispanic. I know this is splitting hairs, but I just thought I would toss that out there. (I have an adopted son from Guatemala too.)
3. I have a son from Guatemala and a biological daughter and they look nothing alike. When we were adopting, and talking about adopting a second someday later, we wanted to try a different country for the experience and so our family would have a multicultural background - which is maybe why you are considering an hispanic child. But, it seems you could consider Asian or African or Eastern European and still get the multicultural feel to your family. that may offer more options for you.
I am just rambling here and I hope I haven't offended you at all. These are just a few thoughts I had when reading your post.

What were we thinking?!
Kelly,
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. You didn't offend me at all. I understand exactly what you are saying. We want an Hispanic child because they are the closest to looking like Zach. We want to adopt in the US this time, as we feel that is where we are being lead.
Zach is actually part Mayan Indian. (I'm not sure what else, I just know according to the documents, he is not full Mayan) If I had the opportunity to adopt from Guatemala again, then I would except for all the problems they are having right now, and I really want the experience of a newborn. Zach was young (9.5 months) when he came home, and I wouldn't change anything about that experience, but I would like for it to be different this time.
I won't go into why we won't choose other races, as it's a long story. Basically, it boils down to my in-laws being VERY racist, and fear for the child being treated very badly. For some reason, it's ok to be Hispanic and Caucasian, but nothing else.
Anyway, thanks for saying Zach is adorable. We certainly think so too.
