My Mood: Points: 25,180.99 Bank: 407.95 Total Points: 25,588.94 | Looking for Alternativ Pain Management for AF I used to be on bcp for pain management of severe AF pains. I stopped the bcp due to finding out it cancels out Met when you take the 2 together. The pains during AF were worse than labor pains, I kid you not. Contemplated suicide a couple of times to just stop the pain and I have a high pain tolerance. Right now, I am taking 6 ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs to keep the pain at bay. However I know that this isn't the best thing for me to do because ibuprofen messes with your liver I believe. If any of you have used alternative treatments for AF pain such as mine, please let me know what you've tried, how its worked, if you still use or would recommend it to someone else. I'm somewhat worried this could cause me to have to take FMLA during AF if untreated.

Taking a really really hot shower seemed to always ease off the pain a bit. During the day if I was home and not at work I would sit in my rocking chair and rock myself with a heating pad over my tummy and that helped too. And when I went to bed I would use the heating pad. I do remember at one point about 2 or 3 years ago I told my mom that if it hurt this bad to have a baby, she can forget ever having grandkids lol. I would get pains to the point I would sweat and puke. So I do feel for you. Good luck finding relief!!!!

I never had really bad cramps like the kind you are describing, but I did have moderate cramps... Like a 5 on the 1-10 scale.
After a few acupuncture sessions, it went down to like a 2 or something.
Also, it can be used as a one off and it is an incredibly powerful, natural pain reliever. Next time AF comes, try it - You will feel better!

I second the heating pad.
This might sound off the wall, but consider a chiropractor. Sometimes they can make adjustments that will help these sorts of pains decrease. Some pain can be because of the way your hips are held.
