I hope its OK if I join. I too live in Calgary (the SE) I am very frustrated and am REALLY hating PCOS right now (not that I'm normally a fan of it tho) I have just completed my 10 days of Provera on Saturday and did my blood work today (not too sure what they are checking for) and hopefully starting Clomid shortly. I am wondering if anyone has a PCOS specialist? My Dr is a doll but he's taken me off everything except Wellbutrin & Effexor - which I believe are only for depression. Anyone have a Dr. that's really helped? OH and any good weight loss stories? I need some motivation...I'm getting married in about 6 weeks. (Way to leave things to last minute eh? tee hee) |

I truly believe I needed it to get and possibly to stay pregnant. As for weight loss, low carb seems to be the way to go for most of us with the belly blub. :-( Of course it's not fun but necessary for people like me.
Does anyone else have a sister that is skinny like a Barbie doll and not a PCOS symptom in sight? That's my Blah for the day.
ETA-I'm waiting to hear about that beta!

Drum roll please!! Beta numbers are in - 3031!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Points: 242.96 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 242.96 | Hi Chrisitine,
My GP sent me to Dr. Corenblum who is an Endo at Foothills Hospital who specializes in PCOS... I really like him and haven't heard anything negative. Besides Clomid he is able to prescribe Gonal-F and other injections. If you're in a hurry to get preg you might want to ask your Doc for a referral to Dr. Corenblum or the Regional Fertility Clinic as there is a long wait time (4-5 months or longer). You might want to be pushy because in my experience Dr.s tend to do all they can before they send a patient elsewhere, and in the mean time you lose all that precious time. I tried Clomid and it didn't do a dang thing and I think it would be safe to say that the few girls who do succeed with Clomid are the lucky ones. Nevertheless, I wish you to be a lucky one... baby dust sent your way!
Nichole

My Mood: Points: 4,996.57 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,996.57 | Hello Ladies! I've been testing this past week because I just couldn't wait, but was obviously too early. Anyway, this morning I took two tests using my cheap internet test strips because I didn't want to waste the good ones. It looked like there was a faint line, but I wasn't too sure. I looked at it in the light in different angles. I thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. So, I broke down and used a First Response. Within seconds, there it was...TWO PINK LINES!! I am in total shock!

May 16th is the day we find out if DH has any boys down there and it feels like miles away. The waiting honestly is killer, I thought the wait to get into the clinic (7 months) was bad, this is way worse.
We've been talking daily about what we might do if they don't find sperm. Honestly I think the worst case scenario would be that they find some, they freeze it and I go through the entire IVF protocol to find out the boys didn't live through being frozen and thawed. That's my biggest fear, the heart break.
Did you get a beta done?

I haven't done a beta yet. I'm doing one tomorrow at work. Then, my doctor's appointment is on Thursday. This way I'll know the results! Is there any other blood work I should be checking besides the beta?
