It has been an interesting experience and very different from getting pain relief. I am thinking it has worked. I am cautiously saying after over 145 days AF finally is here. It is much different that I am used to so I am hoping it isn't going to go away after a few hours. I would have thought it would have been heavy or something, but it is very light yet. I feel stupid, but I can't tell anymore what is going on with AF. So I am going to wait one more day and then call my family dr to get an appointment to hopefully get some tests going to confirm PCOS (or whatever needs to be done). I have also been in touch with one girl that has had a successful PCOS baby and she has given me some hope that it may happen for me as well. I really hope that I can get things moving!! ![]() |

But I am not to worried about it, retail is easy to find a job in. About the losing weight, i would suggest changing your diet before running! Once you get into the groove of things it isnt that hard to keep up with, until you are almost to the point you need to stop losing weight, and your body will tell you when that time is, because you plateau. I have only lost 4 lbs in 2 months, which compared to nearly 20lbs a month prior to that, is a big change, but its my body telling me i need to slow down. And thanks for the congrats . About the blood work, there are millions of people out the who have STD testing without any real reason to get it done, they won't judge you. I have an aids test done every year due to an unhappy incident in my late teens, and so far it has been negative every time, so thats a relief. Its nothing to be concerned about. Violet- There are many woman out there who have sucessfully had a PCOS baby, you should check out the mommy boards! You should anyway, because its great to get that hope as it is. I am glad that AF had finally showd up for you, it can be so hard an confusing at times, especially when TTC, i used to test on day 45 every cycle, just to be sure, and i would usually get AF afterwards, because my brain would know it was ok to start. What meds are you on right now? Are you on metformin or anything? Or are you waiting for the official diagnosis of PCOS still? A lot of people have had sucess on metformin alone, it personally has helped me lose weight, have irregularly regular cycles (every 45 days rather then twice a year) and has helped many women ovulate on thier own in turn helping with the TTC. What doctor are you seeing? Are you seeing a gyno or RE? Good luck hun! (hugs)

How is everyone else doing this fine wintery morning? I just stepped in the shower this morning and the power went off so I ended up showering and dressing in darkness. Other than that, the drive into work wasn't all that bad, just took my time. | |

I personally like him, and heard that he specializes in PCOS. But there are other girls who don't like him. I am seeing Dr. Scott, and i don't really have an opinion of her...She scarey, i know that. But i noticed everytime i go there i am always shoed off to an intern or a nurse, anyone else find that? And i only really get to see Dr Scott for like 5 minutes. Violet- You should look into metformin! It has been a life saver for me. I advocate it 100 percent. A lot of women with PCOS have insulin resistance, and Metformin in a diabetes type 2 drug that helps regulate insulin. However, a lot of PCOS women who arent IR are still taking metformin. You should travel the boards and look at the section on medication, there is a lot of discussion on it. How long have you been TTC?

Our genetic results are normal. She said dr. scott thinks its in our timing ( apparently when you concieve after you Ov you have a higher chance of m/c) So, we were also told that all i need was metformin and some OPKs! so here we go again!!

| Much better Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Calgary Canada ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mel, technically I have to wait until we see our genetics councellor (have to wait till Tuesday to make apt) But....hehehe, no one can stop me!. I have one more active pill left, and then the 7 day wait. DH and I are going to start asap. I actually have my appetite (for BDing) back, which i think has a lot to do with find out everything is ok. I think we will be starting after my AF comes and goes cause I am so excited! And even if we do get pg and have yet another m/c, we will try again. What doesnt kill me will only make me stronger right?! Its hard to say though, i have been on a bunch of boards reading about comming of BCPs, and it can go either way. I am just hoping for the best! Apparently you can have a spike in fertility after comming off BCPS so we will see, time will tell i guess. Its all in Gods hands, if he trusts that we are ready, then it will happen.

| Just Diagnosed Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Calgary, AB ![]() | I actually had some really severe pain in my ovaries a year and a half ago and that's when I started missing periods. It took a year before my doctor would take it seriously and run other tests. Then was just diagnosed in January when I hadn't had a period in over 4 months. They did glucose tests, liver function tests, ultrasounds, etc. and all signs pointed to PCOS. We are not trying to conceive yet but will be in a couple years (waiting for husband to finish school). Not sure what to expect from the specialist appt. in 2 weeks or what to ask or anything. I assume she will just be going over some medical treatments and such since they know we are not TTC yet? |
