Default Chicago Doctors

Hi Jennifer,

I can share with you what i know...but honestly....i am still trying to figure out who i will end up seeing. I started off seeing one dr. at NOrthwestern His name is Dr. Pick...only had one appt...nice guy.....both of the people i know are at the big universities in chicago. Also Dr. Ehrmann at the University of Chicago...he does research on the issues of insulin resistance. I have actually seen both of these doctors and like i said still trying to figure out my next move.....

I went to an Ob/GYN also near northwestern .....who specialized in fertility issues...she really didnt have much to do with me at the time since i have never tried to get pregnant. lol
She basically told me to come back when i want to get pregnant.....Im single never married.....so anyway..no kids yet.

Maybe you can share if you have come across any leads...

good luck to you
-Vicki

There are two I know of. One is in Chicago in Water Towers. He must be the most expensive doctor on the planet. His name is Jan Frieberg?? I am not sure about the last name, but it is definatly Jan and the last name definately starts with an F. He will treat you for PCOS even if you aren't trying to conceive.

There is also a nurse practitioner in Valparaiso that will help monitor you and continue your Met if you have already been prescribed it by an RE. Here name is Chris Davis - I think. I know I sound stupid that I cannot remember exactly the names. I have been having some memory problems lately.

Good luck.

iyld2H,

If you are getting the brush off from other doctors about not taking up their time if you aren't TTC, then yes, I would recommend Jan F. office. The staff there was very nice. They seemed open to whatever I wanted to do - get pg, get healthy, test for insulin resistance and not just diabetes, etc.

I lived in Valpo and thought it was pretty difficult to get there at 7 a.m. for hormone shots etc. once starting the trying to conceive process with them. But, I thought it was a good place to get the right tests done and get on the right meds for me. And, he must have done something right because once I got on the right meds I lost 40 lbs and am now on my second pg (even though the first one didn't happen while I was directly under his care - I had already moved out of the area by then.).

Check your insurance closely because they are expensive. But, you get a trip to Chicago and some shopping etc.

If you are really looking for someone to listen and have a great bedside manner, look to the staff. He has the knowledge but I believe he is busy - like most REs these days.

I really hope this helps some.

Thanks surprise...i think i will keep his name on my list....and will continue my current regimen...the funny thing about it is that i use to live one block from the water tower place. i was so sick of living in the downtown area i moved away.....now im still in the city and downtown a lot for various reasons...so that is not going to attract me. Lol...hee hee

congrats on your success ! the weight loss and pregnancies...i have lost 25 lbs so far...but i dont know if i can really contribute that to metformin....cause most of that was before i started the metformin last month. i think i will see as i try to lose the next 25lbs! one lbs at a time!
continued success to you!
-Vicki
