Default looking for a doctor

Hi everyone!

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and I am looking for a doctor in the Baton Rouge, LA area. Can anyone recommend a doctor that is familiar with this condition? Thanks for the help! I need all the advice I can get.

Default Dr in Baton Rouge

Were you diagnosed by a dr in the Baton Rouge area? If so, I'd be interested in finding out who.
Personally, I've never been diagnosed, but I've seen an endocrinologist to treat some of my symptoms. The group at BR Clinic is good for this.

Default thanks for reply

Thanks for the recommendation to the endocrinologists at the BR clinic. I have an appointment to see a Dr. Frasier there next week. I'm hoping that he can help me determine if I'm having a blood sugar problem. PCOS was first mentioned to me by my Gyn during a routine check up from an ultrasound. I see Stuart Schultz in LaPlace, LA. Great doctor!! Give me a call is you would like to chat. My # is (225) 756-8511.
Thanks, Marcy Holeman

Dr. Fraser is also who I saw. I only saw him once though, about 10 months ago. I had finally decided to make an appt, get an opinion on whether or not my symptoms indicated a hormonal imbalance, and if so get tested, and treatment. I just went for the initial visit, did some bloodwork, then based on that he gave me a prescription. I was to go back in a month to redo the bloodwork. But, b/c we were gonna start ttc soon thereafter, I put treatment on hold. (Fortunately, we had no fertility problems whatsoever, and I got pregnant as soon as we started trying) I am planning to get another appt with him as soon as I have the baby. I'd be interested in hearing how your appt goes.
I know some ppl who see the other endoc. there and are very satisfied with them too. As for Dr. Fraser, he was very nice, and definitely did not rush me through.
I also know of someone who sees Dr. Schultz, only b/c she lives in that area. Just curious.....how is he as a dr and his opinion on pcos?

Congratulations to you on your upcoming new little one! What an exciting time for you!! I have three kids, 12 yo boy, 9 yo boy, and 6 yo girl. You're going to love being a Mom. I saw Dr. Fraser yesterday. He seemed pretty thorough. He ordered some tests for me and wants to see me when he gets the results.
About Dr. Schultz, he is a wonderful doctor. He is a very caring and loves what he does- very easy to talk to. He delivered all of my children, so he holds a very special place in my heart. He is big into vitamins and natural alternatives to treating different conditions. He is worth the trip from Baton Rouge to LaPlace, especially since I usually only have to go once a year. He told me about PCOS, but most of the information I have gathered has been on my own. I don't know how familiar he is with the treatment of PCOS.
Well take care!! I'll let you know what I find out from Dr. Fraser.

Glad to hear you had a pleasant experience with Dr. Fraser as well. Hopefully he ordered alot of labwork, as he did with me. I really liked the fact that he tested for so many things all at once, it at least helped put my mind at ease knowing that certain things could be ruled out. Let me know how it goes.
