Looking to emigrate...

I hope I'm posting in the right forum, perhaps some aussie or kiwi cysters could give me a hand.

I'm looking to move to go down under, New Zealand is actually my first choice.

I've heard it's very hard to emigrate to NZ though. Lots of loopholes to move through.

I'm coming from America, but I don't think that would make a difference. What's the best way?

Any tips/help is greatly appreciated. I'm looking to get out by 2008 officially.

I'm not sure on what kind of hoops you need to jump through for NZ, but I imagine it's quite similar to AU. We just migrated to Australia this year. You're right that it doesn't matter what country you come from. It's based on what kind of work experience and education you have if you're applying for Permanent Resident. If you're planning on making it a long term or permanent move I'd recommend going with PR if you can.

Word of warning... if you have a straight forward application it is easy to do it yourself. We did and had no problems for Australia. If you do decided you need to use a migration agent check them out first because there are some bad ones out there.
