Hello -
My name is Teresa. Friends call me TK. I am 32, have been overweight all my
life, and have a family history of diabetes, hypertension and heart
problems.In fact, we lost my father (who had many symptoms of insulin
resistance) to complications from a stroke following bypass surgery on Aug 29.
About a year and a half ago, my sister was diagnosed with
PCOS(Stein-Leventhal). I have many of the symptoms but, due to insurance
issues, have been unable to see a doctor about them. I now have reliable
insurance and am looking for a female reproductive endocrinologist in the
Atlanta area. Quite frankly, I tend to avoid doctors because I grew tired of
being told my weight came from eating too much or not doing enough exercise. I
know I eat less than most of my thin friends and I am no couch potato. I swim
and walk regularly. I am looking for a doctor who will work to find solutions,
listen to patient input, and not try to blame "life style."

Any help would be appreciated!

If you are trying to conceive, Dr. Andrew Toledo is the best. I don't remember his number. He is located off of Glenridge/GA 400. My sister-in-law tried twice and got pregnant twice with twins. She did lose one of the twins 2 months into the pregnancy. So she has Jordan (7) and Austin & Nolan (nearly 3). I can't say enough about him. Good luck.

I'm sorry about your Dad.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Carolyn Kaplan and her staff. They all are very compassionate and really listen. I could go on and on and on about how well I've been treated there. I too was told for years I wasn't eating right but since Dr. Kaplan came into my life in June I've already lost 10 lbs and I feel better than ever.

She's located near Northside Hospital. I drive an hour to get there and it's always well worth the drive. I actually look forward to going if you can imagine that.
