I thought I'd join to get a little more information on PCOS and read first-hand experiences from women with it. I've lurked a little and find everyone so helpful and supportive! I'm 25 yr Californian...I'm also frustrated, confused and annoyed at the PCOS possibility!

At this point I'm not sure if I have it or not, I do know that I have multiple cysts on my ovaries (particularly the left one) and am having irregular periods and spotting. I've seen the cysts on two different ultrasounds and have had the tech say "your ovaries are like a textbook picture of polycustic ovaries" only to have my doctor say i don't have it....what? Apparently, since I get a period every month I don't have it...then why do I have multiple cysts on my ovaries and why am I having 3-4 week periods? I'm in the process of getting a second opinion from a different doctor so I am hoping for a more helpful answer and maybe some further tests.

Lately my periods consist of a week of spotting, a 5-7 day period, and then another week of spotting. I've tried BC for the first time in a long time this month and I havn't gone a day without bleeding or spotting. The funny thing is I've always been pretty regular with little to no spotting up until about three to four months ago...something is definitely up.

The only PCOS symptoms I'm experiencing are the cysts and the irregualr periods. I'm at an optimum weight, no acne, no hair loss or gain, no skin discoloration.

Anyone know if you can have multiple ovarian cysts without having PCOS?

welcome to sc what id suggest it to write down everything that you want to ask/say to your dr so you dont forget. Thats what i always do . There is a link to the newbie roadmap in my siggie for you
