Thought I'd share one of mine. This was written a few years ago....kinda explains my growing up


The Looking Glass

I stand before the looking glass,
And this is what I see,
I see a woman standing there,
Who looks a bit like me.
But who am I?

I see a woman smiling back,
Her future bright as gold.
She's beautiful from inside out,
Or at least that's what she's been told.

Her face shows no sadness,
She's happy as can be.
She has to be strong,
So that's what she lets people see.
But is that really me?

I look down...and then away,
Then back into the glass I peer.
This time the eyes that once were happy
Now show shame and fear.

I see a scared little girl,
She wants to run and hide,
She's been hurt so many times,
They say they loved her- they lied.

Her eyes reveal so many things.
Loneliness, regret, shame, fear.
She wants to let go and let it out,
But would anyone want to be near?
Is this me?

I pause and think about this some,
The happy woman I'd rather be.
But I think that both of these two girls
Make up who is me.
Who do you see?
