Hi! I absolutely love my OB/Gyn, but I'm not sure about her knowledge of PCOS. I mean, she hardly explained it to me... just gave me some Yasmin and told me to check back in 3 months. So I'm looking for a endocrinologist or RE.... I'll drive to Houston or San Antonio... Temple even. I'm currently in Austin, and Dr. Blevins is supposed to be really great... but he isn't in my network. Argh.
So throw out a few different choices for me and I'll run 'em past my insurance! Hopefully one will work out.
(And I truly don't mind driving... we don't get out enough anyway.
I have an excellent RE in Austin TX. The Texas Fertility Center is great- there are three docs there that are highly recommended- Silverberg, Vaughn and Hansard. I saw Dr Kaylen Silverberg while we were trying to get pregnant. He also did some surgery on me. He is very knowledgeable about everything- I had a great experience with them. This office deals with fertility issues, but I dont think they treat women with pcos that are not actively trying to get pregnant. I am sure Dr Silverberg could give you a recommendation on a good ob/gyn that knows about PCOS if you need to treat your symptoms- he seems to know all of the best docs. He has given me good recommendations for other doctors also.
I see Dr Cutler at the N Austin Medical Center as my ob/gyn. I havent had her treat my pcos though, so I dont know how much she knows about it.
My husband sees Dr Blevins...its almost impossible to get an appt with him though because hes so busy.
Best of luck!

I'm currently waiting for a call back from the new patient appointment scheduler for Dr. Blevins. He isn't in my network, but the endo that is... well, I haven't heard good things.
I might try to see one of the other doctors with Texas Diabetes... we'll see when/if I ever get a call back.
It's good to know about those other docs when we're ready for kids! Thank you!!
Eeek! I was so eager to answer the phone that my supervisor called to see if I would work a 14 instead of 8 hour shift tomorrow... I need to learn to look at the caller ID and to say the word "no." However, I do enjoy overtime.

Well, 5 yrs ago right before I left Austin I had one appointment with Dr. Gail Yohe in Round Rock. She is a gynecologist only...no obstetrics even, but during that one appointment she seemed VERY knowledgeable about PCOS. Just one month after my appt with her I got a job in North Carolina. But I can say she was MUCH more informed than the 2 doctors I saw at what was North Austin Regional?
check dr. neal at the fertility center of san antonio. He is an RE and I absolutely love him!! He is in the medical center off louis pastuer and like I said, he's fabulous.

I have heard lots of good things about Dr. Yohe. She sees a lot of my coworkers.. so that may be a good direction. Hmmm.... well, I never got that call back from Dr. Blevins.. I could ignore that it ever happened.
