i wish to find a good dr in houston because the one i have is horrible. its like when i go she doesnt want to help me she gets happy when the bfp come in and i dont know...... when i first went to her i am the one that said i had pcos before she did. because i seen the post board on the door she kept saying no i dont then so i said yes u need to run test.
Who do you go to? I am looking for a gynecologist and I want to make sure I dont go to yours. I am in the Humble area and I have been driving to a doctor near Texas Women's Hospital. My RE is there and he is great but my OB/GYN really upset me. I have been having severe cramps that are getting worse every month and more and more cysts. I finally ended up in the ER this week and he came by to see me and said that I was going to have to tough it out and take some advil. Obviously I have toughed out all that I can. I just dont appreciate that kind of attitude. I hope you find a DR. Please let me know if you do.

Good to hear that you found a doctor. In case you need to look for someone else, I wanted to strongly recommend Dr Rodriguez on Fanin with TIRME. I conceived my daughter under his treatment and I cannot begin to describe how wonderful he is. I have since then moved to California and am trying to conceive my second child here. The doctors I am seeing here are making me want to go back to Houston just to get treated by Dr. Rodriguez.
I saw him for close to a year before I conceived my child. I never had to wait more than 10 min for an appointment in the whole year that I saw him. He is very careful with his tests. Every cycle in addition to an ultrasound, he would check my estrogen levels and also look at a swab of the cervical mucus under the microscope to check for sperms - which is something Drs here seem to not do. Additionally, he tried new protocols when the old ones did not work and would discuss the treatment plan with me every cycle before he would start me on it. In California, in the facility that I am in I rarely get to see the doctor, and all correspondence gets done through nurse!
More importantly, when I moved to California, I emailed him asking him for suggestions on good doctors here. He immediately responded to my email giving me names of good REs here. Also, a few months ago, I emailed him asking him for the details of the protocol that he followed when I conceived and I got a response from him within an hour explaining what was done, how many follicles I had and what my estrogen levels were.
I cannot simply express how grateful I was to have seen him, specially after the horrible experience I am having in california. I would never had conceived if not for him. I strongly recommend him and I wish you luck.
I see Dr. James Gullett of OGA (Obstetrical & Gynecological Associates.) He diagnosed me and couldn't be nicer. Even when I do "bad" and gain weight or slack on my meds, he's so positive and supportive.
My sister sees another doctor at OGA, and he's great too. I think there's at least 30 doctors in OGA and so far my family's experiences have been great.

I seen Dr. Allon. I did like him. I live 3 hours away so I only seen him a few times. never got into actual fertility treatments with him really. He is big on seeing a nutritionist, taking fish oil. If you are fluffy then he will mention losing 5-10% but didnt push the issue. gave me the prescription for the fertility meds so I had them at home. Found a OB closer to my area that would treat me so I took the meds DR. Allon ordered and got pregnanct 1st round.
He is very light spoken. Knows alot about PCOS.
Now where there is good stories there can be bad stories. I know a lady on here who did have a good experience with him.
hi trina. did you like dr. allon? i was diagnosed by my clueless obgyn. i have an appointment with him on monday, and i'm hoping for some more definite answers. it's nice to hear that others have had good experiences, too.

yes he s real good to me he knows what he is talking about and whether u want to get a bfp or not he will still do all he can for u good luck hope u like him
I just called to make an appointment with Dr. Allon. I am glad to hear that everyone likes him.
Can you tell me what to expect when seeing him? How long does it usually take for the lab results? Am I right in assuming that a dx will not be given on first visit?
I am looking for an Endo who will help me with PCOS. Don't get me wrong I love the OB I have now but I have a few problems. For years she has pushed only BCP down my throat and over the Summer I learned there are many different ways to treat PCOS patients... Especially ones who are severely overweight like myself and TTC. Needless to say the only thing she has done since I talked to her is put me on Metformin and on the first of December I take Prometrium for 10 days to bring on AF... Now I have lost some weight but I don't think it will stick as I think something else is the culprit besides PCOS alone. Besides it all... My fiance and I have been together for 3 years and have been trying for a year plus to have a child... and seeing as my OB is just now taking me seriously about pregnancy her main priority is me losing a lot of weight... If you ask me I don't think that my weight will be a big issue if I lose say 25-50 pounds before becoming preggo. But what do I know? Anyway... If any of you know of any Endos in the Houston area who are very up to date and educated on PCOS and wont push the weight thing so much knowing as I am already trying... I'd greatly appreciate it

I have a friend that went to Dr Allon and liked him. I have an OB/GYN at Houston Women's Care Associates - all of the Drs in her office are women. I personally like that. My RE is just one floor above my OB - his name is Dr McWilliams - he has 2 offices away from the Women's hospital - one in Pearland & 1 in Kingwood. He diagnosed my IR right away, and put me imediately on Metformin - after having my fasting bloodwork drawn.
ETA: Oh and DH likes him too - which is really important for us.
ETAA: He only said something about my weight b/c I have ballooned up in the past 4 years. I was 160 in '03 - now I'm pushing 260. Hopefully the Met will help with my weight too.
I drove from San Antonio, TX to Houston, TX to see Dr Allon and so far I like him. He really listened to me, went over my meds with me, discussed what our action plan would be and took the time to really do a thorough check up (even though that meant I didn't leave his office until almost 7pm). Plus, he worked with all my insurance restrictions and he has no problems writing mail order Rx's and taking calls in response to questions. So far, I like him a lot. If he continues this way, I will be staying with him, despite me needing to drive all that way.
