Okay...I like Dr. Allon....I liked the NP Mary....but the rest of the staff are starting to irritate me.
Why is it so difficult getting lab result without them being so put out?
And...once they are in...even if things are not abnormal...should't I get a call to tell me what the next step should be? or are they done with me?
Am I asking too much? Myabe it is just me and my lack of experience in follow-up doctor visits...but I just don't think that is right.
when i do labs with dr allon he tells me to make a appt. in a week or two to go over them maybe u need to tell him he is great with talking to u about any thing u want.
Amity, I have the same problem, but it's not just with Dr Allon's office...it seems to be with every dr's office I go to now. I think people just don't care anymore unless they are actually seeing you face to face. I always speak with Liz, who's a nurse to GET my test results and then I ask for a callback from Dr Allon to go over the results and ask about medication adjustments. I wish I could make an appointment to see him every couple of weeks but that would get very expensive driving in from San Antonio.

Well Dr. Allon scheduled an appt with me to discuss my lab results and put me on 2000mg of met and I have a follow up appointment with him in a month so far I am very impressed with him.
Do any of you fine ladies know anything about Dr. Valdes? I know she works in the same building as Dr. Schenk but other than that I only have the webpage to go on. I am curious because I will be seeing Valdes in February with better hopes and options for TTC. Also, since she is not in my insurance plan I have to pay a pretty penny ($400) so I'd hate to go and not know if she'll be any good or of any help.

I have a friend that went to Dr Allon and liked him. I have an OB/GYN at Houston Women's Care Associates - all of the Drs in her office are women. I personally like that. My RE is just one floor above my OB - his name is Dr McWilliams - he has 2 offices away from the Women's hospital - one in Pearland & 1 in Kingwood. He diagnosed my IR right away, and put me imediately on Metformin - after having my fasting bloodwork drawn.
ETA: Oh and DH likes him too - which is really important for us.
ETAA: He only said something about my weight b/c I have ballooned up in the past 4 years. I was 160 in '03 - now I'm pushing 260. Hopefully the Met will help with my weight too.
Hi CBO,
Has the Met helped with the weight?
I have ballooned myself and was wondering if Met might help that as well as my other PCOS symptoms.

Thank heavens for this post. As soon as our insurance kicks in the very first day I hope to find a good doc who recognises and treats PCOS. I don't feel like hopping around to find one and since the Woodland's is only about 20 minutes away he's close enough.
Now I'm crossing my fingers that DH's insurance plan will cover him.
Hello girls,
Have any of you had any surgeries with DR. Allon. I am contemplating laparoscopic surgery with him for cyst removal and wanted to know if he was a good surgeon. Or what your impressions of that type of surgery are in general. I am very scared of anyone cutting on my belly, even if the cuts are small.
Thanks.
2000mg's of Metformin has been making me feel like I have low blood sugar here lately... unless I eat fruit or something....
So I think with 20ish lbs gone.. my body is self correcting a little bit... and I need to go down to 1500 or so...
Ah the joys of getting up at 6:30.. So I can make it to Dr. Allon's by 8:30.. FUN FUN.
Synderella---I saw Dr. Valdes about 6 years ago.........She is very good..She is straightforward and direct...Doesn't sugar coat anything but is kind....I think of her so fondly because she was able to help me have my beautiful twins!!

I am going to Dr. Shan Biscette(ob/gyn) in Kingwood, she is with Dr. Miles Mahan, I am actually going tmrro for my first appt with her, I have heard really great things about this group, as for endo's I have heard really great things about Dr. Veronica Jean-Pierre, being a nurse, I kinda get "the word on the street" from all my nurse friends. Personal experience can steer you away from Dr. Julie Bernell (ob/gyn) and Dr. Ulipi Choksi (endo). HTH!!
