I'm looking for a good endocrinilogist in the Phoenix area. I would be willing to travel a little bit if necessary.

Thanks!

Did you find a doctor? I'm from peoria and I was just recently put on metformin for PCOS. I am very new to this whole thing and I am having difficulty fiding the right doctor. Any suggestions?

I'm still looking. I am narrowing it down by which Endo's my insurance will cover...and from there - I am determining which one of these Doc has the most experience dealing with PCOS, etc. I am pretty sure that is how I am going to end up making my determination. Here are some Endo's in my area that I found....however - I can't speak on any of them because I'm not familiar with them...and I'm still looking into things. Here you go.
I am looking for a female doctor myself. I called the office of Lory Ellen Baraz, MD, FACP, FACE and found out that she treats PCOS even though its not listed here. I am probably going to lean towards her unless my PCP recommends someone else. Good luck! Like I said - I don't know anything about any of these Doctors other than the fact they are in my area and are accepted by my insurance...but at least this might give you a general idea. There are some really neat Doctor search links on the Soulcysters bulletin board you might find helpful. Start by finding out who your insurance will cover first. Best of luck!

Default Thanks!!!

Thank you sooo much! Insurance can be a pain! I am in the process of getting a refferal to see an endocrinologist. I feel like my PCP doesn't think it's a need at this point. She currently has me on metaformin with no follow up until my next pap. She diagnosed me with PCOS but didn't give me instructions on how to deal with it other than pills. I hope I get a referral!

Good luck. I noticed that more and more...PCP's are wanting to treat patients on their own rather then doing referrals. Its more money in there pocket if you ask me. This website has given me more answers than my Doctors ever have......and I have gained a lot of information about my illness here. Hopefully if your symptoms continue to get worse your PCP will refer you to a endocrinologist. Best of Luck! I hope you get a referral...........
