Question Looking for a new doctor and need help

My boyfriend and I bought a flat a few weeks ago so now I'm looking for a new GP - one who's sympathetic to PCOS (obviously!!), and to the other conditions I have - endometriosis and possibly arthritis. The problem is that in Montrose where we live there are 3 separate GP surgeries so I'm not sure which one to go for. Ordinarily I'd just pick the nearest one, but they're all housed in the same brand new purpose built medical centre (it's a very strange set up - not sure what the advantage of keeping the surgeries separate is but nevermind.

Does anyone know where I can find out what specialties the GP's have to help me decide? My boyfriend is a typical man and hardly goes to the doctor and when he does it's just the same one he's had since he was a kid so he doesn't really know which one is good or not.

Thanks
Pand

My surgery is the same. Three separate practices in the same building.

When I went in to sign up for a doctor, they had some information about each practice and the services that each provided. For example one had a weightloss program, another had a quit smoking, and another offered travel jabs along with a variety of other things like diabetes/women's/sport issues and such.

I'd go into the surgery and ask at the front desk if there is any information about the different practices and how they differ. To be honest, the doctors will want to take on patients that interest them, and not ones that don't, so I think they will be able to provide you with the info. (I was told as much by my Gynae - that her specialty was in oncology and she didn't really have interest in PCOS. She's since referred me to an RE who is, thank goodness!)

Good luck with finding the right doctor for you!

A.

Thanks for that - I hadn't thought about going and asking them myself. Not sure why lol!!! Think I'll do that this afternoon and see what they say.

Thanks again!!

wonder if you could find any info out from nhs direct?? Or else could you ask your neighbours which one they use. I mean, they wouldnt have the same health problems, but they might know which is better.
