My DH and I are still considering when is the best time to TTC (probably soon). I did a search for Dr. Lobo and did find many articles he wrote. He seems very well informed about PCOS. I was thinking of calling him to make an appointment when I came across the following webpage:
http://www.onna.org/information/USA/New_York/more2.html
The patient said "After one visit to Cornell I see how badly treated I was at Columbia. Columbia is a factory and there is little time for a plan or any dialogue.
I think the bungled my care. Each time I was there I saw another doctor. Rarely did I see Lobo, the head of this clinic. When I did, he barely seemed to remember me and, although I'm 43 seemed in no particular rush and seemed to overly confident that all would go well. It was not, I think, based in reality and did not help me make wise decisions. Cornell in comparison is a first rate place, although clearly much more crowded, it is so worth it. I am so sorry I did not start there. Columbia has no leadership and no coordination. No one has any time to talk to a patient -- even nurses and office support seem annoyed if you ask a question."
Was your experience with Dr. Lobo and his staff this bad? Did you feel all your questions were answered? Did they do a thorough examination? Did he seem to care or did he seem distant? Do you think the service you went to see him for is being treated well currently, good result? Sorry for all the questions, I really like to do a lot of research before I make any decisions. I think not only should a good PCOS doctor be well informed and up to date with PCOS treatments but he/she should be caring and approachable as well.
Good luck with your journey.
