Hello all. I have not be diagnosised with PCOS but from the research that I've done, I think I am have it. I have all the symptoms except that I don't have irregular periods or cysts BUT I'm on the pill. Could that explain why I dont' have those symptoms? I took the quiz and I scorced a 12.5. I have been going to the dr. almost monthly over the past 4 months, because I have a constant dulll ache/pain in my ovaries and lower back. The dr. says it sounds like the symptoms associated with cysts but they have done several sonograms and nothing. Should I talk to my doctor about the possibility of PCOS? I'm so frustrated and tired of feeling bad. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies.

Hey there.

I don't know what quiz you took, so I'm not sure what your score means.

having said that... PCOS is weird in that there aren't certain symptoms that can either definitely diagnose or definitely rule out the syndrome. My symptoms might be totally different than yours, for example, but we can both have PCOS. Even the lack of/presence of ovarian cysts isn't enough to diagnose. Non-PCOS women can have cystic ovaries, just as PCOS women can have cyst-free ovaries. (confusing, eh?)

as for the pill and your cycle, that could be it. Before I went on the pill, I had maybe two periods per year. Now, I get my period every month but still have PCOS. If you're concerned about PCOS (which it sounds like you are), I'd go see your doc. they might get you to go off of the pill to see how your cycle is naturally.

I'm sorry you've been in pain. I'd definitely raise the subject to your doctor. Do a search on the board for "lack of cysts" or something similar, and I'm sure some information will pop up.

good luck! we're here for ya!
