Okay, yeah I've had chin hairs for years before my official diagnosis of PCOS.
BEFORE being treated for PCOS the chin hair was very fine, blonde-ish (I'm a natrual brown with sun bleached red-brown in the summer) and the only ones you could see were those which would become ingrown or that random thick wiry one. The thick wiry ones would only show up one at a time and every few months or so.
Since being diagnosed and doing treatment the chin hair has CHANGED. Now they are all dark (closer to my eyebrow color which is a dark brown), thick wiry, become ingrown all the time. Most importantly it looks like I have a frigging dirty chin!
I've also noticed I have a ton more leg hair than usual. It's also corser. I used to go a good month between shaving and now I'm shaving every other week.
My docs have prescribed me 112 mcg Levothyroxine; 20 mg Benicar HCT; 1500 mg Metformin ER. I'm also taking a multi-vitamin and B-Complex. Met ER was the usual 500-1000-1500 increasing. Levothyroxine was 120 mcg for 3 months then reduced to the current 112 mcg. I was off the Levoth for about 10-12 days between the two levels because of slow labs. During that time the ingrown hairs cleared up, and things thined out. Now it seems things are back with a vengence!
Do any of you ladies have any idea why this is happening???
Thanks!
D.

I don't know why it's happening - but I do sympathise because I have the same thing! I will be interested to hear if anyone DOES know what is happening to us!
i think this is just what happens,, it did for me anyway, it went for a few hairs to lots of hairs... and darker... and if you only have to shave every few weeks!!!! count yourself lucky!! i have to shave everyday if i want to wear shorts,,, at the end of the day i have stubble,,, i also shave my arms cause they are nasty hairy too... i pluck and shave my face daily also...
Yup it happens to me too!! My friend said she couldn't see it, but I don't know how she couldn't!! It is pretty darn obvious, so I think she was just being nice.

You have been lucky so far - for about 8 years now to be anywhere near smooth I shave daily, but I'm too sensitive (poor me....!)to be able, so it's trousers every other day for me!!
Don't know what any of your meds are, because my doctor here in Scotland is of the "if it ain't broke" variety....no meds unless it's going to fix some kind of acute injury!
I'm not TTC so I'm invisible - apart from the excess hair of course....
NOt meaning to moan, but when you see people every day who are all nice and smooth and tanned - you realy just want to cry, or is it just me?
Kalise, it drives me insane to hear women whinge about how "hairy their legs are" when they have a few blonde hairs or something! My legs are covered in thick, dark hair.
And I just want to scream "Try having a full bloody beard!! See how much you care about leg hairs then!!"
Oh I know what you mean, I've had friends say to me "Oh I know I need to shave my legs" or "Don't even look at my legs, I haven't had a wax in about a month". After getting out my magnifying glass all I could see was this blond millimeter long fuzz. I'm thinking to myself for god's sake don't look at mine because they'll look like something out of a horror film to you! lol I shave every other day and even after I shave I'm not too confident showing my legs because you can see the dark roots. Never mind....

I don't know, but my chin hair has multiplied and gotten dark and coarser over the past few years. What works for me, sort of, is to pluck the really coarse, dark ones and then use facial nair to get rid of the finer stuff.

I shave my face every day too - twice if I want to go out at night!
I do too!! I pluck then shave takes me like an hour to do it!! I am very self consious about it!! It sucks to have to do it everyday just to go out!!!
