Hey Ladies.
I have run upon a website for the Los Angeles PCOS center- a place that has reproductive endocrinologists, gynecology, etc. that is supposedly only treating women with PCOS. Now, I was interested (i'm in LA) and fed up with my Dr. and called to see what exactly they offer. Their web-site (still under construction) offered little help. I was astonished when a secretary answered and was very short with me. I asked what services they provided and if they took medical insurance (NO) and how much a visit cost. She told me that a consultation was $265. Hmm, Now WHAT does that entail? I was so excited to think that a place would only treat PCOS...but now I'm confused.
Has ANYONE heard anything of this place? Does anyone have a good PCOS dr. in the LA area??
help.
julie

Have you checked in the section find a doctor, reccommend a doctor to see if there is a doctor someone has already reccommended? If there isn't one, I would try pcosupport.org and look under the topic on members or proffessionals?? They list MD's that are members and hopefully there is one in LA I used them to find my doctor in Ohio. Good Luck!!
thanks ladies- I guess my biggest difficulty is finding someone who I can see with my insurance- I tried to get Cedars, but my PCP wouldn't refer me! He tried to send me to "his buddy"...but he barely spoke english and blamed my PCOS on eating too many fatty foods....
I didn't know Cedars had a PCOS center. I live and work down the street from there. I have been driving about 40 minutes to see my endo that I wasn't too thrilled with last visit. She did train at Cedars but going there would be so much easier.

You ask people why they have deer heads on the wall. They always say, "Because it's such a beautiful animal." There you go. I think my mother's attractive, but I have photographs of her.

My endo is at UCLA med center...I really like him. My primary care physician (along with other doctors I've encountered) said that he was a really good doctor for PCOS. Can I give out names here? if not, email me at cutsygirl79@yahoo.com and I'll give you his name...
Good to know about the PCOS Center. I came across their website as well but have never been able to get a hold of anyone there. Does anyone know what types of insurance you need to see anyone at Cedars? I can switch insurance providers through my employer in October if I need to. Right now I have Kaiser and I want to make an appointment with my GP to refer me to an RE, anyone know of a good RE in the Kaiser system?
.I have my first appointment with Dr Azziz in a week. I am really nervous, As I am obese and want to start fertility treatments. I was wondering if you could tell me anything about your experiences with Dr Azziz.
I have been a patient of Dr. Azziz for over two years. Dr. Azziz and his staff have been nothing but helpful. Prior to becoming a patient I was lost in a world of doctors who did not know what to do with me. I have never had that experience with Dr. Azziz and feel confident that I am getting the best care. If you have any additional questions please feel free to PM me. Best of luck to you.
Hi there! Never heard of the site, and like the Pasadena site that treats PMS and doesn't take insurance, I think it's horrible!!! Let's get their hopes up, then squash them with the enormous bill!!! No thanks!
My amazing Endo- Internal Medicine doc is in Claremont, CA, and her name is Ewa Konca (pronounced Eve) she's hard to get an appointment with, but she is so amazing, I just can't tell you!! She also advises natural remedies to off-set medicinal side-effects. (Yaz causes excess Potassium, and leg cramps so take Magnesium... Fortamet leaches B vitamins, take B Complex, and Skin, Hair Nail vitamins, etc...) I can't say enough great things about her! She's with Chapparell Medical Group on Harvard Ave. in Claremont, off the 10 and 210 fwys. Check her out!
