I just heard back from the endo today on some recent lab work. After a big series of test, it's come back that my testosterone is high.
I've been on Met for over 2 years now. I've managed to lose weight, and all my other bloodwork is fine. It's just the testosterone that seems to be rearing its ugly head again. 6 months ago it was fine.
Leading up to my last dr's appt, I noticed that my hair seemed to be thinning, and the hair on my face seemed a bit worse than usual. When i went to the Dr, she brought this up. Their conclusion was that I needed to go on Yaz in addition to Met.
I do not want to go on birth control. I went on that in my early 20's for similar reasons, and it really messed up my body. The side effects were awful. I think it's what triggered the PCOS, personally. Or at least more of the symptoms. I've refused to go back on it many times, which is how I've ended up on Met.
I just don't know what to do. I'm currently going through a divorce and have been under a ton of stress for the past few months. I want to give my body a chance to 'even out' before I add something else to the mix. Otherwise, I've been feeling better than I have in years, which is really something.
I guess my options are: wait 6 months till my next appt and see if it's still high, and risk more hairloss... go on Yaz and risk horrible side effects, or try to find a 'natural' remedy. None of them seem to be ideal options.
