We went to our 8 week sonogram and the PA said there was no h/b. The RE said to wait for my body to pass it naturally. Well, it's been about 5 days and still no bleeding. I am getting cramps but no bleeding. I called yesterday to see if they would do something or give me something and all I got was the PA saying "Wait until monday." Doesn't she get that I do not want to wait?!? I want this to be over already. It's messing with my head that the baby is still in there...
One question. Should I be concerned about getting an infection in my uterus from the baby still being in there??

God love you and bless you, I hope you can get into the doctor sooner than Monday, but if not maybe the cramping will lessen...keep trying Keep trying!!!

I have had two natural miscarriages, it can take weeks to start bleeding. the risk of infection is pretty low, and if you were you would start to show signs fever, unusual discharge, feeling unwell ect. I think from personal experience the natural way is best for your body but it can be more challenging to your emotions if you are wanting to move on.
Just know you are not alone..

I agree with previous poster. I carried my baby for three weeks after he was gone. Risk of infection is quite low because you still have your amniotic sac encasing the baby.

I agree with everyone, risk of infection is low. I know it's tough, take some midol for the cramps. Try to give it a little longer, it's better on your body and recovery time if you wait for it to happen naturally. So most doctors prefer to do it that way. If you're cramping then it should start happening soon.
Again, I am so sorry you're going through this.

I am sorry that you are facing this. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I was so relieved when my RE said he thought I should go with the D&C. He moved very fast after he was confident the pregnancy was no longer viable and did the procedure himself. For me, because I lost one and then had to lose the other a week later, it was best to not wait any longer. Emotionally I was relieved not to have to wait and wonder. I am so thankful that my RE was willing to do the D&C as it really helped me begin the healing process sooner but it is really up to the individual, I think.
I am so sorry and really hope that you can get through this part of the process with as least stress and worry as possible. Take care.

Me 34 DH 42 TTC since 2000 Diagnosed with PCOS 2004 1500 mg metformin 4 angel babies #1 mc at 6 weeks 01/2005 #2 ectopic (cervical) 8 weeks 03/2006 #3 mc at 6 weeks 07/2007 #4 ectopic 6 weeks 07/2008
It took me a couple of weeks for my body to realise and get itself sorted naturally. The hospital wanted to do a D&C the day after we got the news (even made me sign the concent forms while I was sobbing my guts up. how proffessional is that!?) but I was going away for a week and decided to wait till afterwards.
Apparently it's quite normal to take up to two weeks for your body to actually start the process so don't worry too much about that. You can push for a D&C (they tend to be a bit more reluctant to give drugs I think... depends on the doctor) but personally, the idea of the procedure petrified me. I was relieved that things went normally and i'm glad I waited. In the end though, it's your choice and your peace of mind.
I'm so so sorry for your loss.

I think it is a personal choice, but I'm with Juno. My RE recommended a D&C for several reasons (they can analyze "the tissue" for clues on why I m/c, not having to worry about when and where I'll be when the m/c occurs naturally or how bad the cramping and bleeding will be b/c some women hemorrage, also some women m/c naturally but end up needing a D&C).
Personally, I couldn't handle the idea of waiting and continuing to carry the "baby" and then was afraid of what I would actually see when the bleeding started. I was grateful for the D&C and like Juno, I think it helped me start to heal.
Just to double check since no one mentioned it - are you still on Progesterone? (if you were ever on it, that is). I know that progesterone can keep a woman from miscarrying naturally and hold onto an unviable pregnancy longer than the body should.
