My mother used to make this cake for christmas and it's a very rich, very dense brown cake.
It's called fresh apple cake and it has apples, raisins and walnuts.
You bake it in a bundt pan and then when it's done you make this glaze for it out of vanilla butter and sugar, I think and pour over the top and let it soak in.
Any help in finding this recipe would be greatly appreciated. My mother passed away 9 years ago and I've lost her handwritten copy.
Thanks, Athena

That Southern Cooking website looks like a lot of fun! That cake sounds really good and I just bought a bunch of apples yesterday. I am going to make it, too!
Oh, and let's post back here when we have made this cake. I would be interested in how it turned out for y'all ("y'all"? Listen to me, I am getting into that good ol' Southern spirit!)
Athena..you made me cry...I lost my mom a few years ago and when I miss her most is when I'm trying to figure out how to cook something like she did...Big Hugs to you!
