Default LOTS of questions! HELP! My ovary feels like its popping.

i was diagnosed in early 07.
i am so confused with so many things.
ive told doctors about all of my problems but they
dont take me seiously.
NO doctors take my insurance.
both of my ovaries have cysts on them.
i am a bit overweight.
i lost 20 pounds on the atkins diet but i
couldnt keep it up because it gave me
other health issues.
i dont go to school this year, because my freshman year i was in so much pain and tired all the time.
and when i started taking metforman and birth controll pills i fell apart.
my mom is currently going to court becuase of it.
the state wouldnt let me get homeschooled because they said my medical problem wasnt as bad as i say it is.
ive tried about 4 times to stay on the meds but they gave me horible stomach pains, i have ulcers because of an eating disorder i have.
im only 15 and im trying to face this.
i just have so many problems, that sometimes i think it would be better if i just didnt live any more.
i just really need help.
so if anyone could answer these questions that would be so great.....

1. Is it normal for me to feel sort of a pop feeling on my left ovary?

2. i had my period for 3 months straight, non stop, stopped for a week, and then got it for 2 weeks, what was happening to me?

3. what is the best way to controll my weight?

4. does anyone get any pain in their knee, so bad you cant bend it/walk?

5. i cant sit for too long because of the pain, is there any way i can sit so that it wont hurt?

6. i get nervous break downs and anxiety attacks, is that normal? is there anything i can do to prevent them?

7. does anyone start shaking out of like no where?

8. Do you think surgery would be an option for me?

if anyone can help me with these that would be so helpful.
thanks.

Default lots of questions

Hi so sorry to hear you have so many problems at such a young age.
I started having my problems at a young age too, and like you it was a long road to be diagnosed. Eventually when I was 23 after 5 yrs of excruciating pain, and many gp visits I was sent for a laperoscopy which diagnosed endometriosis. From the age of around 17 I suspected I had PCOS as had some facial hair and irregular periods. I have had all the standard blood tests which never showed up abnormality. It was only when I went to an OB/Gyny re having children, he said I had PCOS as he could see on scan tiny cysts on ovaries, excess hair, and the fact that my cycle was 6-8 wks. He did test on blood to check for ovulation and my reading came back at 2 and normal is between 30 -40 if there is ovulation. I had to have IVF so obviously a fertility clinic would go into more detail with bloods etc, and it showed raised androgens (male hormones) If u are unhappy with your doctor or gyny go get a 2nd opinion. I had to pay privately to get to the bottom of it as in Ireland there are very long waiting lists etc. I also suffer with anxiety, and I now take a low dose tranquillizer twice a day which has helped. Not sure if u have been checked for endometriosis, but it sounds like u may have it. I went on pill without taking any 7 day breaks for the endo so I wouldn't bleed as that is what aggravates endometriosis. I'm 32 now and endo seems to have eased off a bit between treatments and been pregnant. Sorry if this is long winded but maybe u could print this off and show it to your doctor as u clearly need pain relief and treatment for anxiety. I happen to be a very normal and highly intelligent person so if you are showing this to your doctor I do know what I am talking about. I have been through the mill for yrs and wish I had someone to advise me all those yrs ago, but it was just the lack of knowledge on the subject that I had to suffer for so long.
Good luck with it all, and hope you get the help you deserve.
Best wishes

and my next apointment ill make my doc. read everything else people have told me.
thank you so much<3

Eva37,
thanks!
i have asked my doctors many times about many different problems, but they dont seem to have an answer. what i want to do is meet alot of people on here, and make a sort of list of everyones symptoms and how they feel. i really want to get to the bottom of this and hopefully from doing that i'll get answers.

1. Is it normal for me to feel sort of a pop feeling on my left ovary? -

Yes if you have cysts, and they might be bursting or causing pain, what did you doctor say?

2. i had my period for 3 months straight, non stop, stopped for a week, and then got it for 2 weeks, what was happening to me? -

definately hormonal - probably related to PCOS, .. are your parents able to afford to see an Endocrinolgoist?

3. what is the best way to controll my weight?

Definately to eat Low GI, totally cut out sugars except fruits, low carb diet, lots of exercise including weights and I would definately reccommend Metormin.. you will lose weight on that as it improves lessens insulin resistnace and IS causes you to put on weight in that apply shape areound waist stomach and upper body. I lost 10kg in a couple of weeks.

Also eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 bigger ones.

Hope this helps. It is sad that you are suffering and you are still so young.

4. does anyone get any pain in their knee, so bad you cant bend it/walk? -

this could be related to an injury you have had or sometimes if one is overweight it puts extra stress on knees.

5. i cant sit for too long because of the pain, is there any way i can sit so that it wont hurt?
Do you mean your knees hurt when you sit?

6. i get nervous break downs and anxiety attacks, is that normal? is there anything i can do to prevent them? -
I'd say with all the health problems and not being able to attend normal school and no one really "understanding" the extent of your medical problems is VERY stressful for someone so young or anyone for that matter and this would be normal for you to be feeling like this. I hope that you have supportive parents to get you through this. You should be young and carefree at that age so with all the stress its normal and maybe try and reduce the stress by addressing the medical problems which you are now doing so that is good.
You will see , soon it will be all ok when you can get this PcOs under control.

7. does anyone start shaking out of like no where? -

No but this may be related to anxiety you mentioned above or blood sugar levels??

8. Do you think surgery would be an option for me?

What do you mean? What kind of surgery are you referring to? I gather you meant to help ease the pain in ovaries or was it the knee?
Perhaps on your ovaries , yes but you would need to see a specialist to discuss this.

if anyone can help me with these that would be so helpful.
thanks. - hope i have helped.

oh okay,
no they dont know anything about pcos, and make up lame stories telling me im making it up or its in my head, they seriously try to make it like im crazy.

2. definately hormonal - probably related to PCOS, .. are your parents able to
afford to see an Endocrinolgoist?

no we cant afford anything, not even food shopping. : / thats why i need a job.

3. Definately to eat Low GI, totally cut out sugars except fruits, low carb diet,

well ive been on metforman and it made me throw up like a week ago.
ive tried like 5 times. i dont eat too much sugar.

4. this could be related to an injury you have had or sometimes if one is
overweight it puts extra stress on knees.

thats what some people are saying but im not sure. ive never had an accident that screwed up my knee, just my back and neck.

5. Do you mean your knees hurt when you sit?

no my lower abdominal.

6.I'd say with all the health problems and not being able to attend normal school

yeah things have been pretty tough. im trying to get it under control but i guess i need more help in that i guess.

7.No but this may be related to anxiety you mentioned above or blood sugar
levels??

i guess it might be, youre probably right.

8. What do you mean? What kind of surgery are you referring to? I gather you meant

Perhaps on your ovaries , yes but you would need to see a specialist to discuss
this.

yeah my ovaries. its just too much for me in this point in life.
they told me that surgery isnt for me, but how would they know whats happening and how im feeling?

hope i have helped.
