Default Low androgen bcp

What is the lowest androgen producing bcp? My 16 yr old dd might be put on bcp and I'm trying to find one that won't cause more acne or male pattern hair growth.

Thanks

Thumbs up

I don't know what the lowest one is, but I *loved* Yasmin. My facial and body hair got much better in just one month. My acne also improved.

I did break out the first week, but after that everything was great.

Desogen (ortho cept) is very low androgen affect as well as a lower estrogen effect as it has 30 mcg. It seems to cause less bloating than the higher 35 mcg. pills for me and my skin and hair are nicely taken care of. Best of luck to her. I have taken the pill off and on for PCOS since I was 17 and was able to conceive on Clomid in my early thirties since I had kept my ovaries shut down so well with the pill. My mom was very against it back then but now that am 38 and have 2 healthy children feels it was a Godsend!

Thanks for that info. I think the best hope for my dd is to keep her ovaries "healthly" so that she might have a better chance to get pg when the time comes. Right now she just wants to get the acne and hair growth under control.

I hear that! It was horrible when I was a teenager and had acne on my chest and back as well as my face. Tell your daughter the pill works like magic to get rid of all that! The hair goes bye bye too as long as you use a low androgenic pill. I'd stay away from Alesse even though they like to use it for teenagers since it is low in estrogen. It has a very high androgenic effect. If you want to keep the estrogen low mircette would be better but it may not help your dd skin as much as a 30 or 35 estrogen pill because you need estrogen to soak up the free test. in the bloostream. Check out the pills with desogestrel or norgestimate. Best of luck to you both! Your dd is a lucky girl to have you helping her out!

Yasmin is *the* lowest.. it lowers your androgens actually. Ortho-cyclen, ortho tri-cyclen and many others are low, but Yasmin doesn't have any and also has a diuretic effect like low dose spiro...
