Default Low blood sugar episodes on Met?

I am taking 1000 mg of Metformin. Twice in the past week, I have woken up a couple hours after I went to bed with low blood sugar episodes, where I felt very shaky and sweaty all over. I got out of bed both times and ate something small and was able to get back to sleep, and woke up feeling normal. I've been on the met for years, so that isn't anything new. However, I did recently switch from one pharmacy to another, and my medication is made by a different manufacturer.

I used to get episodes like that all the time before I had kids, especially when I would go too long without eating. But they've been few and far between since I've had children and been on met. I'm worried about why I might be getting them now. I did have gestational diabetes (GD) though I controlled it extremely well and never needed insulin. I know that between the GD and the PCOS, I'm at higher risk for developing diabetes. So I don't know if that's what has happened, if I'm not on a high enough dose of met, if the met is lowering my blood sugar *too much* or if it's something else altogether. I would definitely go into the doctor for this, but I don't have health insurance.

Does anyone have any ideas about what could be causing this? Has it happened to anyone else?

Thanks in advance!

Holly

I've been wondering about the whole blood sugar thing too. Mine has been all over the place the last few weeks. High, then low, then back again. I also wake up in the night with hot flashes and sweats. (My mom recently informed me that my grandfather, who had diabetes, was always hot.)

I hope we both get it figured out soon!
