Default Low blood sugar making me feel like this?

I am still sort of new to Met. I've been on it for 3 weeks, 1500mg, 750 twice a day XR (I am not insulin resistant). I am really trying to eat more healthy since being on it because I have some weight to lose. I rarely eat breakfast unless I am starving when I wake up. So today I ate a Lean Cuisine for lunch and part of an orange. That was it. I had some Crystal Light iced tea in a water bottle then went to the gym to go on the elliptical for 3 miles and 500 calories and also lifted weights. I've been doing that workout routine for about 2 weeks now. ANYWAY, I started getting a headache and then getting lightheaded. I have eaten a little bit of some chicken soup and 2 small pieces of frozen pizza and then a few mini M&M's for dinner but I still feel light headed/dizzy and have a dull headache. I'm not full but I'm not hungry either. I take my Met at lunch and then again before bed (I'll eat a cracker or something to go with it). What is this headache/light headedness feeling and why do I have it? lol Any help would be appreciated! TIA!

It definitely sounds to me like you're not eating enough. I'm kind of going through the same thing with Met. At first I was really worried that something was wrong with me or that it was low blood sugar, but the girls here helped me realize that it really was that I needed to eat more. It sucks because I don't want to have to eat every few hours but I've noticed that it seems to get better all the time. At first I had to eat ever 2 to 2.5 hours. Now it's more like 3 or 4 hours. And here's what helps me the absolute most - PROTEIN. Try to get as much protein as possible!

Can I ask what you eat to get your protein? I dont think I want to eat a protein bar or a piece of chicken every 2 hours. LOL

Ew, I don't blame you.

Here's a typical day's meals for me, trying to get as many foods with protein as possible:

breakfast - Frosted Mini Wheats with plenty of milk (I'm not a huge fan of breakfast so I basically have to stick to cereal unfortunately)

snack - apple and nuts or apple and cheese

lunch - a Lean Cuisine or a sandwich (whole wheat bread, mustard, cheese, thinly sliced lunchmeat) and chocolate milk

snack - yogurt

dinner - varies obviously, but if I don't cook a meal containing chicken I try to make something with beans. Also I try to make sure we get a side of veggies and/or maybe whole wheat pasta.

snack - cottage cheese, and then I allow myself some chocolate and a glass of milk

I'm definitely getting my daily dairy intake!

I know, I felt the same way at first. I've basically started checking the amount of protein that's in everything I buy!

Default low blood sugar feeling with Met

It happened to me at first usually mid afternoon( I take one dose at lunch one at dinner) what I did is eat snacks every few hours and I take a B complex with or after the Met as we need extra B anyway with met and a B complex spikes energy!! Totally helps... no more tired!! I also take sub lingual b 12 because of the possibility of met causing b12 deficiency!! On 1000 now and got one period so staying here for a bit!! Good Luck!!

I swear I have a B12 deficiency to begin with as my mom has that and it's hereditary. But when I told my endo that, he still didnt test me on that. Ugh. I take Met and a prenatal vitamin. Should I get something else?

Smile Low blood sugar making me feel like this...

Well I take a multi w/o iron
A B complex 50 once a day
and sublingual b12 once a day, because apparently if the met DOES affect your b12 it does so by depleting intrinsic factor which prevents you from absorbing it in the stomach. The under the tounge kind goes right to the bloodstream. I figure I am covering all bases
Garlic ( REALLy has lowered colesteral and I do not get colds anymore)

My Dr said Bs flush out, so its fine and the max doses are a lot higher then what you get in a multi plus a b complex so its unlikely you would OD
The other thing I learned on this board(thanks again ladies!!) is some of us with PCOS react badly to iron supplements . I started a muti w/o iron and immediatly felt less tired and sluggish so that may be something for you? I just make sure I eat iron rich foods especially during AF or long spotting times

And again I eat a small snack every few hours just in case.

I had the same exact feelings of light headedness and headaches. I was also feeling extremely groggy to where I wasn't functioning well at work. (I am a teacher.) I was on it for 6 weeks and it didn't let up at all. I was also monitoring my blood glucose to make sure it wasn't low blood sugar. I actually just called my doctor and he told me to stop taking it. I am going back to the OBGYN to dicuss our next step in TTC.

No, it wasn't. My blood sugar was around 100. It was just making me sick constantly. I have not had a period still (I know sometimes it takes months to regulate, but I just couldn't take the side effects.) I have an appointment April 15th to discuss clomid. Is anyone else taking clomid?

I really think you need to eat a proper breakfast that includes more protein. Perhaps a 1/2 C of cottage cheese, an egg....something. For me, the pizza and the M and Ms do not work w/ the meds-it all turns to sugar too quickly. In my experience, lifting weights requires a lot more protein. If I don't get it, I'll get the shakes, get cranky...You might try a teaspoon (or perhaps even a tablespoon) of peanut butter every 3 hours.
