Question Low Carb diet books? With UK measurements?

Can anyone recommend a good low carb diet book/website that has recipe info in metric (not US) units??

No offence intended to US cysters but I haven't got a clue what "cups" are!!!

Cheers!

Bobbins,

This has always frustrated me ... I'm married to an American and recipes from his 'mom' drive me nuts

I have since discovered that 1 cup is equal to half a pint (237ml).

Hope this helps!

ypu can buy american measuring cups from lakelands www.lakelandlimited.com Take care looking at this site, far too easy to spend loads of money on kitchen "stuff"!

Default UK/US Measurements

Hi girls

I'm actually from Canada but have lived in London for 6 years (with 1 year in between spent in Wiltshire!) and am married to an Englishman, so I understand where you guys are coming from with measurements...

1 cup is equal to 250ml on the nose

Actually, I have found the best measuring cups/measuring spoons with american measurements on them in places like Pound Stretcher and other 'cheapie' stores because a lot of their stock comes from old American shops etc. I got my measuring spoons and cups there for £1 each!

OH, I noticed someone mentioned Lakeland up there...you know, they have this cool butter substitute they sell on their site called Butter Buds, I used to have them when I was still living in Canada...they come in individual packets and you sprinkle them on food (like veggies etc) and they 'melt' onto it and they taste like butter without the fat. Not bad if you need to have that buttery taste on your hot food!!!

Happy Shopping!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and looking for ways to improve my diet and my PCOS, is a low carb diet the same as a low GI diet? Some women I talk to thru a PCOS digest list are on it and have lost weight and finding it quite beneficial. It's definitely something I want to give a try.

Default Welcome anz!

Not sure if its the same as a low GI diet but I have a feeling it is as I would expect low carb foods to have a fairly low GI. I got my parcel from Amazon today with my Atkins diet books so am going to give it a go as of next week!

Ooh good luck then, let us know how you get on. Once I've seen my gynae on Monday and the month end comes (payday for my hubby to be lol) I shall be trying something like this. I feel like a thin person trying to get out of this flab suit I used to be a size 14 before my problems started, now i'm a 22-24 in tops and 24-26 in bottoms aaaaaarrrghhhhhhhh! Ok rant over lol.

Love Anz xxx
