Default Low carb for thin cysters?

I've had only 3 periods in the last 20 months, after giving birth to my son (needed Chlomid for that). I was always irregular, but never like this. Polycystic ovaries, hirsutism too.

Before trying with medication, I'm trying to control through diet. Has anyone had any luck regulating their periods by low carbing?

I've been on Atkins for 5 weeks now. I got rid of the bloated feeling I often had, lost a couple pounds (5'2", 110lb), but no period yet.

I had good luck with the Zone diet and herbals. You have to find the right combo for your body. I never had my period more than 1-2x a year. After 2 cycles, I am pg!

I also felt much better when low carbing on the Zone

Lightbulb Helped Me!

Hi Sherry,

Diet and exercise have certainly helped me.
I have started cycling every month, with O. My O has started coming earlier in my cycle. My body hair growth is slower and I think reduced as well.
In general, I have taken my health into my own hands and I feel empowered by it. My FIL laughs at me that I will live very long and will be very lonely because of that. But I just want to be healthy and avoid the health implications of PCOS as best I can.
I am not doing anything as radical as Atkins. Just moderate carbing, taking GI into account etc. I even indulge myself from time to time, just so I don't resent the diet. But, the cravings come less often, so i don't need to indulge much.

HTH,
Oshrat
