Hi. My doc just prescribed me spironlactone for the first time. The dose is one pill a day and they are only 25mg. tablets. Is this just way too low to be effective. Everywhere I read on here says they take higher doses. I dont want to be wasting my time putting it into my body if it doesnt work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully someone that actually takes it can answer your question, but I believe they usually start you on 25 to 50 mg/day and titrate you up gradually.

I take 100mg (2 x 50mg). My endo started me out on that dosage.

May I ask what you're (possibly) taking it for? Scalp hair loss? Not-so-normal hair growth? 25mg for an entire day does seem awfully low...

Im taking it for abnormal hair growth. I just have a lot of dark hair in certain places and would like it to not be as bad. Maybe she is just starting me out low and will raise it. Im unsure.

When I started taking spiro my gp prescribed 25 mg once a day and told me after a week to start taking 25 mg twice a day. This is before I was officially diagnosed. After I went to a gyno for a diagnosis she told me to increase my dosage to 50 mg twice a day which is what I am currently taking.
