I have PCOS for the past three years, I am on medication, doing a lot of exercise and diet which has ofcourse helped my PCOS. Recently I got my routine blood work done, insulin and everything related to PCOS was just fine. But now there is a new problem, TSH level is very low ..<.01
Does anybody in the group have hyperthyroidism??? If yes, please share your story, I feel very depressed, I need your support...I was planning to have a baby, and now there is this new problem...
There are a few ladies around here who do have hyperthyroidism, they don't post often, but maybe will see your post soon!
I know it's frustrating to have yet another dx to add to your list...but try to think of it as one more key to the puzzle of fertility. Have your doctors talked to you about the treatment plan for your hyperthyroidism?
There are many good website out there were you can get information. A great starting point is www.endocrineweb.com, it really explains in plain English was is going on with your thyroid and treatments. Another favotire resource is www.thyroid.org. Both of these sights will help you come up with questions for your endocrinologist...I am assuming you will be seen by an endocrinologist who specilizes in thyroid disorders.
Hug to you!
Cynthia

Hi there...I'm hypo- not hyper, so I doubt I am much help. In addition to the two sites that Cynthia posted above me, another great place (where you're SURE to interact with other hypers) is at LiveJournal.com It's the "thyroid" community. They are awesome over there.
Another wonderful site is medhelp.org. There are a lot of different health forums there, including a thyroid forum and you can actually ask the endocrinologist there any question you may have.
Are you currently taking any meds such as Tapazole? I've read that a lot of people with hyperthyroidism have RAI ablation so they kill off some of their thyroid thus becoming hypo since it's easier to treat. I hope you are having your blood drawn every six weeks or so to rule out Hashimoto's Thyroiditis since some people with that will swing from hypo to hyper. Has your doctor done that already and/or dx'd you with Graves?
Best wishes.

Actually, I am waiting for some more results..5 days back, my PCP told me that my TSH level was less than .01, thatz very low, she said that it might be due to overactive thyroid gland..today the nurse practitioner called me and told me that my t3 and t4 values were ok..and said that the doctor would call me soon.. i am waiting for her call, feeling very nervous..As of now, it is low level of TSH, t3 and t4 are normal, may be a pituatary disorder, I am waiting:-((((((
thank you all for your support, shall keep u posted.
my dr spoke to me today, so itz confirmed. My TSH is very low .01, T3 and T4 are normal..i have an appointment with an endocrinologist who specializes in pituatary, thyroid and adrenal disorders...Since I have PCOS, I started doing a lot of exercise and diet and lost 20 pounds in a period of 8 months, and now I have another problem..There is lot of information in the net, some of them say that low TSH may be due to some problem in the adrenal gland or may be a tumor in the pituatary gland or hypothalamus..this is so scary!!! Really fed up :-(( Shall keep u all updated, plz wish me luck and health :-(..anybody with similar health issue, share it with me..
Don't panic.... I had a pituitary tumor and it wasn't detected by the tsh levels.
My most recent lab test show a tsh of 0.09 which means my thyroid is working too much, I want to share that I've just had a cat scan and the pituitary tumor has not grown back. Don't be anxious It doesn't help your thyroid levels. Stay as calm as possible while you do your research.
Is it possible that your thyroid medication just needs to be reduced? With your exercise routine your metabolism might be working better and using the medication more efficiently? Sorry if your doctor has already addressed that, but thought I might ask.
I hope you find out what is wrong soon. I know it is very stressful to not know what is wrong.
Having such low tsh level is making my hair fall off. My endocrinologist told me to take a pill and a quater instead of a pill and a half. ( I have Hashimotos) sometimes low sometimes high, but my general doctor told me to lower it down to one or my hair will keep falling off until I get the results the endo ordered, that will be in two months! So I started reducing to the dosage he told me for a week and tomorrow I will start with one pill. I don't want to be bold headed for my son's wedding!
