I sadly am having low libido issues, and trust me it's no picnic for my husband either. I'm assuming this is caused by the PCOS with me taking the Metformin, the Yazmin BC, and the Synthryoid that I'm on. I've thought about taking Testosterone Supplements because I've heard that helps with sex drive, but then wouldn't that just do the opposite of what the Metformin is suppose to be doing, lowering my testosterone levels? I'm so confused. I just know I want this fixed so I can have a normal sex life again. Anyone having this problem? Any suggestions of anything I could do?
I have no libido! I don't know about low. I have absolutely no desire at all. I feel like I would be quite happy to never have sex for the rest of my life.
I am currently trying to get my weight down and I am hoping this will help. I am planning on getting my hormone levels tested soon to figure out exactly what is going on as I am currently not on any medication to control the PCOS... I actually came off a homeopathic supplement I have been taking which includes Agnus Castus amongst other things - so that I can get the tests done as I want to know the baseline of where I am at without any 'help' at all.
I shall be interested to see other cysters input on this thread. Sorry that I have not been able to help... but rest assured you are not alone!!

I am having the same problem. I am currently just taking Provera. Fortunately, my DH has been great about it-I think I am harder on myself about it. I too am overweight I have lost over 20 pounds and hoped that the weight loss might help but so far it has not.
I am going to an RE for the first time this week and plan to bring this up as one of many issues. I will let you know what I find out.
I notice that my libido is directly related to how fat I am at a particular time. A few years ago I had lost 30lbs. Not that it was a lot considering how overweight I am but I felt GREAT and my libido was way up there.
I gained that weight back and BLAH............nothing...............
I battle with depression and sometimes the worst thing is even just getting out of bed. I have noticed that if I force myself to get up, showered and shave my legs etc, I always feel better.
I think that the core of the loss of libido for me is how I feel about my weight and looks. So, I make extra effort - I try to maintain my shaving regime and self tan etc. I notice that if I let basic stuff like that slide, them my depression kicks in hard. It's a constant cycle and even though I take St Johns Wort (which I do find works for my mental state and my libido), I still need to work on other stuff myself....kind of like if you diet but don't exercise - they both go hand in hand and if you let one slide, you don't get as good a result.
ALSO - if your partner isn't hitting the spot physically (is he letting himself go too), then address that with him. It takes 2!

oh thanx for posting...mine is low and i never reach o either.....this has always been the case but ive been on yaz for the past six months or so...I dont get it...my hair falls out and i have acne i had no period for 5 months and these are all suppose to be signs of high testosterone levels but I have no sex drive!!!! i dont know what my testosterone levels are, i cant remember if they checked, but everything was normal at the time. Let me know guys if u find anything out, i guess im gonna go get my levels checked.
I've pretty much had no libido for the past couple years now. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I hadn't had a period for the same amount of time. I took Provera and AF is now visiting. I wonder if this will change.
Thanks georgy for the link. I read the article and it really does give a lot of tips!
my libido is really low too but i think it's slowly getting better as my hormones get in check with the met. i'm finally getting away from feeling like i could go forever w/o sex which is good since we're going ot get back to ttc soon
I too had this problem. I started doing accupuncture and let me tell you, she has gotten me off the yaz, avandia, depression meds, spiro, rhuematiod arthritis meds. I take herbs now and I have had 2 cycles in a row now with her help. I would not say that my libido is 100% fixed, but I am more in the mood then I have been in the last 5 years.

Musicincminor, I would not recommend supplementing testosterone on your own. Please discuss this with your doctor. If your androgens are already elevated--as they often are in women with PCOS--you will only make matters worse by increasing your levels of testosterone. Good luck!
