Default Low Progesterone but still Got pregnant? Success stories please...

I am in my 2ww of my third round of clomid. P4 tests showed low progesterone at 7dpo my last two cycles ( results were 6 and 7) and even though I have asked repeatedly, my dr says she doesn't normally prescribe progesterone at least until they find out I am pregnant.

But my issue is, is that I've heard it can be hard to get implantation with low progesterone and miscarriage rate is high. My friend is an OB/GYN and I'm thinking of asking her to write me an RX for prometrium since my dr won't.

Any success stories...advice??

Hey there!
You were so comforting and sweet to me on another thread, now I get to return the favor!
When I got preggo with my son, the DR didn't even think that I had o'd, my p4 was so low. Then when the pregnancy test came back positive (they did a blood test *just in case*), they immediately put me on suppositories, then injectibles. My entire first trimester the DR complained about how low my progesterone was, but I have a healthy boy today! So it definitely can happen!!

Also, I have read on other posts that there is a cream you can buy. Maybe ask your pharmacist and see if it's over the counter.

Ok. A progesterone of 7 according to my RE will not be a good enough O to get pregnant. On a glucophage only cycle mine was around an 8 7dpo and he said that showed some ovulatory action but it was not a strong enough O.

My RE usually does the bw for progesterone at 7dpo (after the trigger as we did injectables) and then has you start the progesterone supplements after. I had to get my pills through a compounding pharmacy. A lot of women on here have used natural progesterone cream. (I haven't so I don't know anything about it).

My RE said 15 on and unmedicated cycle and 30 on a medicated cycle is what they are looking for (at least he was). The cycle I got pregnant we did follistim injections and my progesterone was only 13.75. I had to go on a high dose of the supplements because my previous 2 medicated cycles my progesterone had been over 30.

I am sure someone got a BFP with low progesterone, I just am telling you what my RE said. Good luck and I hope it happens for you too.

I am so glad to hear this! You just do not know! I *did* get preggers in May, but the only problem was that they called it a chemical pregnancy.

It didn't last very long, but I was still grateful as I was not even ovulating when this whole progress started! I just know that as soon as they found out that I was preggers, they put me on progesterone suppositories right away.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.

HA! I can top that! My P4 was a 5 and they said I hadn't ovulated. When I started spotting, just for kicks I took a HPT and got a BFP. Well, of course because my progesterone was so low, I m/c. After that i always start taking prog after ovulation. Ask for it! It can't hurt anything, so why would she say no?

My dr will not RX me any type of progesterone. I found NPC but it was over $30 for a small jar and while it would be worth it, my insurance covers all RX's for $10 no matter what the prescription is. It seems like EVERYONE on here gets to take some kind of progesterone but me. I've read up on Vitex to help up your progesterone, anyone tried that? I'm at my witts end with my dr but we have HMO and I have no other choice.

My P4 level was 4.9 at 5 DPO (they thought they were taking it at 7 DPO but I ovulated late) they told me I did not ovulate that cycle, a week later I decided to take a test just for fun and it came back positive! They did a blood test to test my hcg and my P4 again. My P4 was 17.5 then and my Dr. put me on an oral progesterone and now my level is 28. And now I'm 7.5 weeks pregnant!! This was my first month on 100mg of Clomid.

I had an u/s on cd 13 and the doctor said that I would O in the next day or so and to start bding. I had b/w on cd 20 and it came back 2.1 so she said that I probably just o'd late. Ten days later I tested positive with an HPT and 11 dpo I had b/w and my beta was 118 and my p4 was 18.

I found and use NPC, and it only cost $15. I don't know where you found the $30 stuff. But mine gave me AF just like I wanted. Check one of the threads on the alternative therapy board. It will give you a few links for the cream that's inexpensive and has worked for others.
