My Mood: Points: 16,877.02 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 16,877.02 | I was reading this post today.... I got my p4 back. Was a 10. I did clomid on cd 5-9. It should have been higher. I think I did ovulate and have a SLOW rise in my temp. Can someone give me suggestions? Should I be taking progesterone? Or the cream some have mentioned? I'm waiting to test . Did one yesterday and it was BFN. I'm VERY VERY tired this week. More that usual... I'm hoping for pregnancy but I'm just waiting. Can you get the cream at the store? Target? Walmart places?

My Mood: Points: 1,438.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,438.98 | I am so glad I found this post. I am in the 2ww and have low progestrone (6.4 yesterday). My RE put me on something. She also told me that it was very possible to have a +HPT with low progestrone and not to count this cycle out yet, even if it was less likely.
Good luck to everyone. Lots of babydust.

My Mood: Points: 8,450.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,450.31 | At 6dpo my progesterone was 7. My RE prescribed prometrium 200mg 2xs a day but the nurse also told me that it might not be enough to help implantation to occur. They told me to take a test the following week and call them back. Well low and behold the test was positive and when I went in for more bloodwork my progesterone was up to 30. Only a few days later it was 71. So I think if they catch it early and you can take something it can help. Sorry this cycle didn't work out for you but good luck in the future.

My Mood: Points: 23,240.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 23,240.98 | I think catching it early would be within the first couple weeks of pregnancy. Like if you missed AF, got a +preg test, and still had low progesterone, they'd want to put you on the supplements right away.
Karrie241 - Thanks so much for your reply, that is exactly the kind of story I was looking for and it gives me hope. Thank you!

My Mood: Points: 8,450.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,450.31 | What I meand by catching it early was I had it drawn that morning and they called me back that afternoon and called me in a prescription. I started taking it that night. And I was only 6dpo so implantation hadn't occured yet (probably). The progesterone is what sustains the pregnancy until the placenta forms so you have to have enough of it present in your body for the implantation to even occur - if that makes sense.
My doc was a little shocked that it happened even with that low initial progesterone. I feel like they caught it just in the nick of time.

I leave tomorrow for vacation. I'm feeling SOOO TIRED the past two days. I wonder if taking something now would be good? Or just wait until the weekend to see. Can you tell anything from my chart? Wonder if I should take a test in the morning?

My Mood: Points: 23,240.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 23,240.98 | Spring - Just call your dr and ask if they think you should be on progesterone supplements or not. There is no way to tell by your chart if you should be on them or not.

My Mood: Points: 1,025.54 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,025.54 | Hey Melvinswifey, though last month was a BFN, my RE put me on progesterone suppositories about 3 days post IUI and told me to stay on them until I found out if I was pregnant. If I was, I would stay on the progesterone for the first trimester (to lower risk of miscarriage). Since I wasn't pregnant I stopped them and then subsequently got AF about 2 days later.
I would definitely ask for another opinion on this from your doctor or another doctor....i think taking it is pretty common.
Good Luck |

My Mood: Points: 1,975.45 Bank: 4,564.78 Total Points: 6,540.23 | Marcie - do you have a normal luteal phase length? I had tested with really low levels of progesterone a few months ago, but I had a normal luteal phase length. I am about 5 weeks into my 1st pregnancy now, and had my progesterone level tested early this week (to see if I'd require supplements) and it is a totally normal 32!
So yes, you CAN conceive with the low progesterone level - if your luteal phase is long enough to allow the embryo to implant. The doctor had told me that I'd need to be on supplements to get pregnant and as it turns out, I didn't. I don't even need them now to sustain the pregnancy - my body is suddenly doing what it's supposed to - which is totally a shock to me and a gift from God.
All that being said, I would search for a doctor who will put you on progesterone if you feel you need that to conceive. It won't hurt and could definitely help you. If nothing else, with peace of mind!

My Mood: Points: 2,965.07 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,965.07 | I had a terribly low progesterone level with my last pregnancy. So much so that they told me that it probably wasn't viable (can't remember the exact # though).
I had a very hard time talking them into progesterone supplements. Finally, I DEMANDED them.
Viola, I have a 5 year old now! |

I never got pg with the clomid and always had low p4 when I ovulated, but now we are about to move on to our first injectibles/IUI cycle and my RE has agreed to give me progesterone supplements this time! I'm so excited!
And Heather, congrats on your new pregnancy!!

I am 32 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins and my p4 was a low 6 at 7 dpo. They do supplement for anything under a 16 but I have always had super low progesterone as I do have a luteal phase defect. Best of luck to all of you TTC. |
