Question Low T3 and cytomel??

Hi ladies! Among other tests, I had salivary & blood thyroid run about a month ago which came up low T3. The doctor prescribed 25 mcg cytomel once per day. My question is--is anyone on cytomel (and what dose)? If so, what are some side effects I may expect? My symptoms: brain fog, fatigue, hairloss, acne, abdominal fat, etc list goes on. Has anyone had these symptoms improve (especially brain fog & fatigue) after cytomel? TIA!

T3 is quite likely going to improve these symptoms for you. I'm shocked the doctor put you directly on 25mcg all at once though. T3 is much faster acting (within hours) and that much all at once is likely going to be giving you tension headaches and eye strain pains. I'd suggest at least breaking it in half at first.

In the end you may decide you like it best taken in two split doses over the course of the day instead of all at once in the morning. Like I said it works fast.

i take a t3 compound ... like cytomel but sustained release..i do feel better...but if you take too much you can feel really shakey or rapid heart rate...i would suggest what shena said to cut in inhalf to make sure you dont have bad side effects and go up from there xoxo jenn

Hi,

I take cytomel, only 15 mcg though, and I have been very pleased with it. My guy has me take 10 mcg in the am and 5 mcg in the pm. The cytomel equates in some way to sythroid, so you might ask your doctor if that needs to come down. It has helped a good bit with fatigue. I don't know that anything will ever clear the fog in my brain, but that is a different issue.

Post thanks girls!

Thank you ladies! I originally thought 25 mcg was low, but apparently not! The doctor seemed to think it was, but anyway. I will try to split the pill at least in half, maybe half-morning & half-late afternoon (when I get tired the most). We'll see...my T4's were all normal, which is why they didn't prescribe Armour, I guess.
