I went to get results of tests my dr. ordered for an endo. doc that he referred me to, who I am seeing tomorrow. I was looking thru the results and noticed that I do have a 2:1 ratio, but it is backwards. My LH is 3.57 and my FSH is 6.2. I know that a higher LH is a sign of pcos, but what does it mean when they are flipped like this?
I am expecting more questions and possibly more tests to be ordered after I see this doc since I have also been on Met 500 mg. 2 times a day for about a year and a half, yet my glucose levels are still high. The fasting level was 110 and one that was taken recently when I went to the ER for a possible ectopic was 138...even with that being evening and a couple hours after a meal, it is high. We may be in for quite a ride of figuring things out now, but I am mostly just wondering what to think of the flipped ratio right now.
Thanks

Sneez, that Met level isn't high enough to do anything. For PCOS, it should be at least 1500mg/day. For Diabetes, at least 2000mg/day (usually even more).
Don't get hung up on the FH/LH ratio. It's only an indicator of PCOS, not a real diagnostic tool. And from what I've read, it CAN be backwards and still signal PCOS.
I'm glad you'll be seeing an endo soon, since they're the metabolic experts. Thank God your doc realized he was in over his head!

Actually, I asked to be sent to an RE and since we don't have much of any in the surrounding cities, I was sent to an endo. The doc who refers me isn't the one who has me on met, it was an ob/gyn that I was sent to in the hopes of finding why I had recurrent m/c's.
I did go see the endo this week and he was one like I have read about on here who have tunnel vision and are of no use at all. He informed me that when I was a teen, by the problems I was having, I had pco (there is no s to it for him) and that now I am "cured". He said I do not have diabetes (also a very narrow definition of that for him) and didn't even have me do a weeks worth of after meal testing as I expected to check on it with my higher levels of glucose. He disregarded almost all my test results and actually complained about me having them done and brought in because he said he didn't remember specifically asking for them! He said I was insulin resistant most likely, and that he normally has people on 1500 to 2000 mg of met, but that since the lower dose is working for me (i.e. I don't have a string of pearls type cysts and I do ovulate) that I must be fine on this amount. He told me an awful lot of things that I know aren't true, and even danced around the new standards for thyroid. Thankfully, he saw no need for follow ups, so I don't have to go back to this jerk again. Honestly, I was hoping to find out if the low lh meant that my eggs aren't ripening well and maybe that has something to do with me never getting very far in my pregnancies, but he wasn't about to listen to me anyhow. I did, of course, have to hear all about his wife and him going thru infertility testing, finding no cause and adopting. I learned way more about them than he learned about me!
I am not having any luck in finding anything about low LH so far, but am hoping to run across info. sometime even if by accident. Thanks for replying. I thought I had seen others who were diagnosed and had it turned around, so glad to see this can be true.

You know I never did ask to see or get a copy of my blood work... I feel confident in my GYN. I do however know that I must have low LH or something because I took those darn pee strips for 5 weeks and not one had a full fledged line. I had THREE that had barely there lines... hmmm.... what does this mean?
I am sooo sorry you had such a horrible experience with your endo. I had a bad one too when I went to an endo thankfully my gyn is smart and has knowledge on PCOS.
Have you checked your insurance to see if you have to have a referral? Or tried calling around GYN's to see which have experience with PCOS?

I don't normally get all my test results, but these were specifically ordered by my primary care doc for me to be ready to go to the endo. and we have to hand carry them for such things.
We are a military family, so if they have a type of clinic in the military hospital then they tell us we have to go there. There is a way around it, and I am looking into what it will take to get sent to a civilian gyn once my hcg levels hit 0 this time.

I would recommend always getting copies of your labs.
I read somewhere that an LH below 3.0 can make it difficult to keep a pregnancy. I didn't bookmark it though. It caught my eye because my LH is 2.9 I think.
