Hi,
I ordered the midwest center program. I did not suffer from depression, but I did have horrible episodes of panic.
I will tell you, the sections on panic are EXCELLENT. They describe why panic occurs, what is actually happening in your body, and teach you great techniques to manage it.
It is quite funny, once you hear them describe a panic attack, you think they are living inside your body. Then, you realize that if they can so accurately describe these attacks, then lots of people must get them. And, if lots of people get them, then you probably aren't dying or going crazy when you have one. This realization will change your life.
Managing panic doesn't happen overnight, but I credit this program with helping me manage mine. As a side note, getting my fluctuating blood sugar levels under control severely reduced the frequency of panic attacks.
My RE told me that in the "old days" of medicine there were many anecdotal stories of physicians who had successfully treated "psychological" illnesses with drugs used for diabetics. There were never any true studies, but anecdotally, the stories were in medical circles. I think that is very interesting.
I have seen the program on eBay for less than the $500, but that is hit or miss.
They do also have a message board at
www.stresscenter.com that you can join for free, you don't need the program. One caveat, though. To some extent, misery loves company....so the folks who are using the program successfully aren't usually the ones hanging around the boards...they're out enjoying their lives. Just keep that in mind if you choose to visit the boards because sometimes the posts are quite negative.
Good Luck! Managing panic is a tough thing. You are not alone.
