My doctor switched BCP's on me two months ago because the first one I was on wasn't getting rid of the ovary cysts.
Anyway during the first new pack of pills I noticed my left breast was larger then the other. Honestly it could have been that way before and maybe I just noticed, but it did concern me so I called the doctor. The nurse said that is normal sometimes with BCP's. Okie. I was also having soreness and tenderness in that breast right before my period, more so then the right breast.
I'm in the middle of the second pack now and my left breast is sore again. So I was doing a self breast exam yesterday and found that my left breast is "lumpy" next to the right. Not just one lump but I could pin point several really. They aren't really big or anything, but any lump is scary of course! I am also not sure if the same breast may have leaked this morning (I was in the shower so it was hard to tell).
I don't know now if these symptoms are from the new pill, my very messed up hormones to begin with (from PCOS), or something worse? I have a doctor appointment tomorrow to get it checked out.
The pill I'm on now is called Ovcon, and they said it was a MUCH stronger pill then the Allesse I was taking before. Maybe too strong for me. I'm only 25, and breast cancer does not run in my family (but fibroids do!). But I feel very paniced about it all. I've never had trouble like this, and I'm really hoping it's nothing serious. Has anyone had any experiences like this from either the pill or PCOS? I haven't been able to find any info online about the breasts and PCOS. Although my doctor did check to see if my breasts were leaky two months ago, so I assumed that was a sign? Thanks for all of your help!
Hi hun. I read your post and with a lump in your breast you should go see the doctor. IT is normal with getting on BCP to have sore, tender breast. But a lump in the breast really should be checked out. At 13, I had to have a lumpectomy in my left breast because of a lump I found...and this was right after I got on the BCP. You should really get the lump checked out. Please tell us how it goes and keep us updated.

You should have it checked out just incase but... I do have lumpy breasts. I talked with my endo about it and she said that with all the crazy hormone stuff that goes with pcos this is a commen side effect. I also have one breast that is almost a cup size larger than the other.. and they do leak. I have had several test to rule out stuff and everything is normal I am just lumpy!!!!! I hope this helps!

Just wanted to update, saw the doctor today, and I too just have lumpy breasts. Well she called is cystic fibrosis. But it is not cancer.
Basically she told me the birth control pill they had me on was one of the strongest out there. And my body was just not handling it very well. Sadly it was working great for my ovary problems, but the side effects weren't great.
So they have put me on a more medium strength BC pill, and I have to get back to them on whether or not my ovary cysts come back and start hurting me. But she said my right breast should go back down to normal, and the lumps shouldn't be quite as noticable. But both breasts are lumpy, and she said that does run in families. Which is true for me, my Mom also has lumpy breasts! What a relief though! Thanks for your help!
I am so happy to hear that things are alright! I am so relieved! I have been praying for you...and it looks like my prayers were answered! I too have lumpy breast! With the BCP it can make them sore and painful too! I am so happy you are alright! Thanks for keeping us posted!

Ahhh Thank you so much KatrinaAnne, your very sweet! I certainly appreciate your prayers! I really needed them (I was so upset about it!).
Mine are very sore and painful too right now. I just hope this new pill works for my ovary cysts with less side effects! I can handle some soreness and swelling but ouchy it's been bad! Thanks again!
