Default Lupron

I have just recently been diagnosed and went for a second opinion (suggested by my OB/GYN) to see an RE. Both have suggested treatment with Lupron. I would rather try the Metformin first. I have not found anyone who has taken Lupron for treatment of PCOS? The side effects are scary.

Please let me know if anyone has tried it for this condition.

THANK YOU!

I'm new to all this and am researching the meds but my Fertility Dr and OB/GYN both have me on Metformin XR 1000mg and have been talking about me using Lupron on cd18. What side effects have you found?

hotlips,
My RE told my that the Met. XR doesn't help as much as the regular Met. You may want to ask your doc. Also, They said that more people have side effects from that one.

Default Lupron

The information that I have found says that Lupron is most generally used to treat endometriosis and fibroids and also prostate cancer in men. It throws your body into a menopausal state. The common side effects (stated by physicians) are hot flashes (which I already have) and vaginal dryness (have that one too). When searching the boards to find other women on this med, I have come across some HORROR stories. Women that experience horrific symptoms even when no longer on the medication. Women that have lost their muscle tone, ability to function on a daily basis, migraine headaches that occur daily, brain fog that never ends...their stories have scared me to death!!! I personally know of two people who have been placed on it. One friend, who is female, who was ttc. She had no side effects and was on it for three months. It did not help her fertility-wise. The other, a gentleman, who was placed on it for treatment of prostate cancer. He had horrible side effects and was sick and fatigued every day.

I will try to find that website again and post the link.

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES!!!!

I had a friend w/ endometriosis that was on Lupron.... I have never heard of it for PCOS... it has some pretty intense side effects... I would make really, really sure that it is appropriate - definitely get a second opinion.

Good Luck!

I was on lupron when i was taking my shots to cause ovualtion. I had done the follistim without lupron, and O'ed to early. The lupron was used to hold off O until the egg was big and ready. I used it from cd2 untill the day before i took my trigger shot.
Now after all my losses, I am just on Met 850 2x a day. I was on the ER but my insrance (military tricare) only covers the regular. The side effects suck, but it eeps my body in check for the most part... still trying to figure if AF is on a schedule or not.
