Lush products, their secret ingredient - Calamine! and cold packs my husband is from australia and got me hooked on using zinc oxide goo, like the hot pink stuff we used to wear as sunblock! the white stuff, available for cheap at most drugstores, works amazing as spot treatment.
i started to develop a homeopathic skin potion and knew that i have had great success with a few lush products (lush.com) that were all pink...it didnt take long to figure out that calamine powder, the same stuff that is used for insect bites, is the primary ingredient in the products i loved. calamine has amazing healing properties for acne, wounds, bites and just about every other skin irritation and is mostly zinc oxide. if you have ongoing issues with oily skin, try calamine products.
about lush, their products are expensive but i have found they work small miracles. the aqua marina facial cleanser, if used as a 1 minute mask, did more to improve my skin than anything else ive done. it smells terrible, but is amazing. angels on bare skin is the loveliest cleanser in the world, but is lavender based and so i can only use it in the winter.
another really great thing is to put a cold pack on your face for ten minutes before bedtime..its a great way to relax and to reduce inflammation. i got this from a book that professed an acne cure of a salicylic acid wash, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid and cold packs. i couldnt handle the bp stinging my eyes.
obviously this is all external and temporary, but may help some people!
