I really dont recall where I found this (it could have even been on this board) but I was really touched by it when I read it. Just thought I'd share.

It must be very difficult
to be a man in grief,
since "men don't cry" and "men are strong"
no tears can bring relief.

It must be very difficult
to stand up to the test
and field the calls and visitors
so she can get some rest!

They always ask if she's alright
and what she's going through.
But seldom take his hand and ask,
"my friend, but how are you?"

He hears her crying in the night
and thinks his heart will break.
He dries his tears and comforts her,
but "stays strong" for her sake.

It must be very difficult
to start each day anew,
and try to be so very brave-
he lost his baby too.

Thanks so much for posting that poem. It made me cry. I try to encourage my husband to let it all out, but he is so resistant. I wish we didn't have this societal belief that "strong men don't cry." I certainly don't believe that is true. I think it takes a stronger man to go with his feelings, despite what our cultural hangups are.

there was so many comforting poems about mommies...i wish i'd had this before...its sooo true...

thanks for sharing it...my dh was so strong for me...i remember the only time i saw him cry was when he came home and handed me the obituary we had printed in the paper...it was like slow motion...watching the tears well up in his eyes...daddies have such a hard time...

i'm definately adding this to my memory box...hugs...
